The Demands of Serving God

Romans 12:1-3(KJV)
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

In serving God your treasure is in a different place and there is a greater demand on you than in serving material things.

Serving God Demands:
1. Your heart - trust in Him
2. Your eye be single - right focus in life
3. Righteousness - honesty before God and man
4. Integrity - Believability
5. Serving - God and others
6. Your mind
7. Your faithfulness - to God and man

Matthew 6:24(KJV)
24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Walk in the light as He is in the light.

Disaster Response
Often the winds of a storm haven’t even stopped blowing when Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Response team rolls in. We are considered a “first responder” organization in disaster relief. With a fleet of tractor-trailers, a 300,000-square-foot warehouse, a Ham Radio Network, a high-tech Mobile Command Center, and by utilizing our points of distribution model we have become an active and efficient disaster relief organization by providing resources and help to victims of disasters. However, we do not go at it alone. We rely heavily on the faith-based community and national and state disaster relief agencies and organizations. We have also developed a disaster preparedness program to educate communities so that they can prepare for and respond to disasters.

Reflective Thinking Part I

This is from John Maxwell's book "Thinking for a Change". I suggest that you get the book and read it from cover to cover. There are a lot of good principles on "thinking" given for your help.
When you think about something reflectively, ask the right questions.
Important questions that help you stay focused and keep you moving to improve on your life and actions.

Thinking Related to Values:

1. Personal Growth: What have I learned today that will help me grow?
How can I apply it to my life? When should I apply it?

2. Adding Value: To whom did I add value today? How do I know I added value to that person? Can I follow up and compound the positive benefit he or she received?

More to follow tomorrow....

Examine your commitment...

Examine your commitment...

O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. (1 Timothy 6:20-21 NKJV)

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. (2 Timothy 1:12-14 NKJV)

You are a New Testament believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, correct? So please take some time and examine your commitment. What has He committed to you? We can see from the Scriptures above that we must guard that which He has committed to us. The way to be successful is to avoid worldly wisdom and knowledge that contradicts God's Word. Taking such a stand creates suffering (persecution) for each one of us. But the Lord will keep His commitment to us. The Holy Spirit in us will overcome! So our responsibility is to hold fast to the pattern of teaching in God's Word.

So let me ask you, what is the fruit coming from your behavior? How committed are you to walking in the Spirit to obey His Words? If you see lack of commitment and unfaithfulness to His Word in your behavior, isn't it time for repentance?
