In the week prior to this one we had a time of prayer and fasting for the entire church to participate in for God's direction, for individuals and the corporate body for 2008. I will ask this week via the bulletin for people to give me feed back on their time spent with the Lord. To find out what God is speaking to the people about.
As the pastor of First Assembly of God here in Blairsville Pa., I have been impressed of the Lord to search the scriptures in the coming year for the expectations of God for the believer. At times when we approach God we bring our list of directives for Him and then go on our merry way with our expectations of Him but the question comes to my mind -- Do we bother to find out what God's expectations are from or for me? For instance in the following scripture we see that we can eat the best of the land and desire that...however there are some expectations from God to us to get to the promise and we must not forget that.
Isaiah 1:19 - 20 (NIV) 19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land; 20 but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
We find that the blessing comes from being willing and obedient -- that is what God expects.
If we resist and rebel we should not expect the blessing from God.
