Leadership Lessons

Pastor Steven Furtick is the Senior Pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC. He’s passionate about Jesus. He said…in answer to the question:

1. What is the biggest leadership lesson you’ve learned over the past year?

"I’m continually learning to trust God in his selection of the people he places in my life rather than trying to keep people in positions that have outgrown them. I’m learning to trust that God always gives an upgrade when he moves someone on in your life.

As leaders we can become so comfortable with the arrangement of people in our inner circle that we prohibit God from bringing his best into our lives.

God is teaching me to trust His wisdom and ability to bring the right people into my life at the right time."

As a pastor myself I believe that God is doing much the same thing with every pastor that has a real heart for the Lord and wants to do the will of God.

There comes a time when we have to allow that God really is in control and that what happens is well within His knowledge and ability to bring us to the right path that He has ordained for us.

He has all the resources and provisions for the journey with Him. Sometimes we have to relax, get ourselves something to eat for the journey(spiritually), and be ready to run the course in the power of His might.

We learn at every turn that God is trustworthy. So we can trust Him with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5 - 6 (KJV) 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Colossians 3:1 - 4 (NIV) 1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your£ life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Blessings on Ya!
Pastor Kitner
