Friendship - What's it Take

My father-in-law used to say "if you want to keep a friend, never borrow never lend".
Well what is a friend? What does it take to be a friend?
Four things that are integral to friends and friendship are as follows:
1. availability
2. Dependability
3. Vulnerability
4. Responsibility

Then there are Seven "Bes" that are involved with the "How to be a friend" idea.
1. Be real
2. Be realistic
3. Be affirmative
4. Be available
5. Be balanced in your relationship
6. Be growing in your relationship
7. Be grateful

Then there is the most important part of friendship and that is first and formost be a friend of God so it all works together and can be blessed.

Two examples of being a friend of God are:
Moses
Exodus 33:10-11(KJV)
10And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.
11And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

and Abraham was a great man of faith and was called the friend of God.
James 2:20-23(KJV)
20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Friendship is something people desire and it is a good thing if it is found. We have only a limited amount of true friends in our lives. Gaurd and protect your friendships they are valuable.

What Pleases God?

Hebrews 11:5-6(KJV)
5By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Enoch was a man
1. of faith
2. who walked with God
3. who believed God
4. who sought God
5. who prophesied
6. who was diligent in seeking God
7. who pleased God
8. who reaped the reward of God for his diligence

What I see in Enoch and His relationship with God is intimacy with God. He went beyond the superficial knowledge of there is God to knowing God in a deep relationship, where they shared the things with each other that no one else shared. That is what intiamcy is about, an ever growing desire to know more of each other beyond the superficial surface knowledge.

When you seek God with your WHOLE heart He says He will be found of you. Desire coupled with diligence toward knowing God causes one to reap the reward from God.... Go for it today!

When you hunger and thirst after His righteousness you shall be filled!
