The Importance of Understandable Communication with Words.

1 Corinthians 14:6 - 12 (KJV) 6Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? 7And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 8For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? 9So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 10There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. 11Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. 12Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
In these verses it is revealed to us, by Paul’s desire and spiritual understanding put on paper, how to communicate the Word of Truth, with understanding, to the people of God, the church and to those outside the church as well.
Let’s look at 4 ways that communication is opened up to all who would hear the vocal impartation of Truth.

1. Speaking by revelation – Mt 16:16-20 is one example of what is meant. Flesh and blood has not revealed it to you but the Father in heaven. Understanding of Jesus, the Word of God and the Father’s wisdom is imparted by the Gifts given by God for solid communication of this understanding for edification such as the Word of knowledge, and the Word of Wisdom etc.

2. Speaking by knowledge – This can be what experience has taught us, others and what has been established as good and true guided by God’s Word.

3. Speaking by Prophecy – Speaking by the gift of prophecy what the Lord is saying, to those in the hearing of that Word, now. A Rhema Word. This Word is given under the anointing and by the unction of the Holy Ghost in a known language.

4. Speaking by Doctrine – Teaching the established principles and truths of God’s Word as established by the Bible. The truths taught concerning salvation, water baptism, the incarnation, the Gospel of the kingdom and other sound principles that will build up the faith of those who hear.

Unless people can understand what they are hearing it becomes just noise and does not edify but confuses the hearer. The object of speaking in our gatherings is edification. This is very important to the Lord. Let all things be done decently and in order.

How to Have Positive Relationships

Do you want to build positive relationships and ministry opportunities? Then you must desire to understand people so that this can happen. In the book “Today Matters by John C. Maxwell” there are some things listed by John that will help to get this goal accomplished and as he says, bridge the gap that exists between you and them.
1. People are insecure – give them confidence.
2. People want to feel special – sincerely compliment them.
3. People desire a better tomorrow – show them hope.
4. People need to be understood – listen to them.
5. People are selfish – speak to their needs first.
6. People get emotionally low – encourage them.
7. People want to be associated with success – help them win.
When you begin to look at the potential of people instead of their failures you are in a place or position to help them succeed and cause your relationship to be good.

2 Timothy 3:10 - 14 (KJV) 10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

Selective tolerance is the rage today so as to make it look like the Christian is the only intolerant person. All other views are OK it would seem in some circles.

But Ye Shall Receive Power! II

Acts 1:8 ( KJV )
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Some other scripture to read to go with the Holy Ghost and power: Luke 24:49; Luke 4:18; ICor. 4:20; Zach. 4:6; Ephesians 5:18; ICor. 12; Romans 12; and John 14:12 just to name a few.
2 aspects of power are: 1. authority and 2. dunamis or explosive or miracle working power
G1849: ἐξουσία exousia ex-oo-see'-ah From G1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, that is, (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence:—authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.
G1411: δύναμις dunamis doo'-nam-is From G1410; force (literally or figuratively); specifically miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself):—ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.

The power we are speaking of is “dunamis” or miracle power. It is power that dwells within the Christian believer. It is the power to fully be a witness unto the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the same power that was there with the Spirit that brooded over the first formations of the earth and the sea and all that is in them in the book of Genesis, creative power.

Let’s look at 5 more aspects, of what is received when I receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon me.

I. The power is comforting power. The Lord gives another comforter. We are not orphans.
II. The power received is the powerful Holy Spirit teaching us so we are able to speak with authority.
III. The power received is revelation power even to things to come.
IV. The power received includes power over unclean spirits - to cast them out.
V. The power received is of knowing your purpose or the reason for the anointing on your life. See Luke 4:18

Lincoln’s Lessons - Invest in Who You Are click here

Go to the link in the title and read some interesting things on the life of Abe Lincoln.

A quote fron the first article: posted by Michael McKinney
"Hardships, failures and disappointments forged Lincoln into the leader he was. His résumé didn’t prepare him for the job of the presidency, but the crucible of his life did. A defining quality was his deliberate and continual reflection that gave him a depth of understanding and purpose to face the struggles, as he put it, “not altogether for today” but “for a vast future also.”"

Let’s look at 5 aspects, at a time, of what is received when I receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon me.
I. I receive transforming power that works within me to produce the fruit of the Spirit in me .
II. I receive power that touches the spoken Word of God and causes it to become life giving with quickening power and not a dead letter.
III. I receive the power of the gifts of the Holy Ghost that cause me to be able to be used of God in the gifts that represent Jesus’ power released through me for ministry, exalting Jesus.
IV. John 7:38 shows that the power received causes rivers of living water to flow from our inner-most being
V. The power received is the indwelling of the Spirit of God within us to release us in the supernatural Spirit of God. It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me.

I will list several more aspects of the power we receive after the Holy Ghost comes upon us in the next issue of my blogsite.

Swimming against the tide...

Swimming against the tide...
Author unknown...

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:7-8, NIV). And as James says about a double-minded person: he is "unstable in all he does" (James 1:8, NIV).

Someone has explained how, in the frigid waters around Greenland, "Countless icebergs float around. Some are tiny; others tower skyward. At times the small ones move in one direction while their gigantic counterparts go in another. Why is this? The small ones are pushed around by the winds blowing on the surface of the water, but the huge ice masses are carried along by deep ocean currents."

In our day there is great pressure to go with the crowd, to be politically correct, to do the convenient thing regardless whether it is right or ethical or not. The reality is, however, unless we have deep roots in God, we too can easily be swayed by the "popular winds of the moment" and be "double-minded and unstable in all we do."

Think of Jesus, he never worried about being politically correct, or pleasing the crowd or the religious leaders of his day, or even King Herod for that matter—except God, his Father. He did right regardless of the consequences. For you and me to make a difference, we too, need to stand for truth and do right regardless of the consequences.

To do this we need backbone. As the saying goes, any dead fish can float down the river but it takes a live fish to swim against the flow. Furthermore, he who stands for nothing will fall for anything.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me in this day and age to stand for truth, the principles of which are found in your Word, the Bible, and to always do right regardless of the consequences. Give me the courage to live only to please you in all that I am and do as did Jesus. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."
