Colon Cancer Diagnosed

Hello everyone,
This is just a note to say that I have been diagnosed with colon cancer and they are doing a CT Scan on me Monday 3-31-08 to make sure that the cancer has not gone anywhere else in my body.
I would ask you all to pray for me but I want to share this also: I have perfect peace in this and I am not the least bit anxious about it. I believe God is going to do great things through this for others as well as me.
I taught about praising God not matter what your circumstances are because He is worthy of our praise forever.
I open our services with "God's good - all the time and all the time God is good." I still remain the same and I know God is good and He is worthy of my praise at all times.

Psalms 107:8 - 9 (KJV) 8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Psalms 107:8 - 9 (NIV) 8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, 9 for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

Speechless - Silencing the Christian Voice -- Click Here

This is an important subject that should interest all Christians and a must see.

Give me some feedback on this one...What are your thoughts on this matter?

I know the lady named Arlene in the video. She was in the church that I was an assistant pastor at in the 1980's.

One More Thing about the Power of the Resurrection

The power of the resurrection...

Colossians 2:4-15 ( KJV ) 4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. 5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. 6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Because Jesus Christ rose from the dead the opposing spiritual principalities and powers were stripped naked before the universe and all of God creation and left with no authority over God's people at all. We were set free from the accusation that were against us and Satan was made a laughing stock for all to see.
Jesus declared that he had been given all power (authority) in all of heaven and earth. That being so that leaves Satan's crowd with no authority. Don't give them any place in your life.

Romans 1:1-4 ( KJV ) 1Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

God declared also that he is His Son with Power -- (dunamis) explosive life giving miracle working power by His resurrection.

So if we are walking in that resurrection power then we can do what Jesus declared for the believer to do and that is the same works that He did and greater works, because He went to the Father and sent to the believer the gift giving Holy Spirit.

An Early Easter Present

Jesus Christ has risen and He is Lord!
God has blessed me in this day for sure.
As I came into my church office today, after Getting some blood work done, I had a young man come in with questions. He was wanting to know how to pick a right denomination etc. Well we talked for some time and I got to explain the plan of God for salvation and what Easter is all about. He had been in a relationship with a girl that was pentecostal and she had told him about Jesus and the things of the Holy Spirit. He is from Catholic background so he was confused about some things. I shared the scriptures with him and as we talked you could tell that he really wanted to have a relationship with God. So I explained how that would take place if he believed in his heart and would come to God in humbleness of heart to receive the eternal life that Jesus brings to him. We prayed and I gave him a Bible and some instruction on reading God's Word. He is on his way home to his parents house, which is about 4 hours away from us here. He goes to a school called Wyotech and will be back in 2 weeks and has told me he would come out to church here then. He has a peace about him now that he didn't have when he first came in to talk with me.
I was blessed to be able to lead that young man into a begining relationship with Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Easter truly has arrived early for him and for me also as I celebrate together with him for his new life in Christ.

Thank you Jesus!!!

Be blessed!

Same Ole, Same Ole

When you do the same thing that you have always done you will get the same thing that you have always gotten before. Change is effected only by doing something differently than you have done it before. A rut is a grave with the ends kicked out.
Church has got to be done differently today than it was even 20 years ago and the people who are the church MUST step out to do something that is in the realm of today and not live their religious churchanity out over and over producing the same old weak church that has produced religious programs and very little growth in the body of Christ.
I am 63 years old but I am not stuck in the last century for the way I see church being done. I want to preach the life changing message of the gospel but not in the ways of yesterday that the people of today can't relate to. Don't get me wrong, I know that it is not by might and not by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord..
What I see that is killing the church is a unwillingness to really change the methods of reaching people without compromising the truth. People who never progress with the times and keep trying to do what they learned to do way back when it used to work. There is a preconceived idea that we do it this way and that is the only way it can be done. Then on top of that a critical judgemental spirit is unleashed toward anyone that dares to do something different.
God is looking for those that will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. The leadership of the church must be as radical as Jesus was in the time frame of His earthly walk. There must be more Out of the Box, non traditional, outside the walls of a building, ministry taking place so that the kingdom of God is increased.
Please think about not doing church as usual and reaching the lost for Christ. Send me some comments and suggestions or tell me of some things that have worked for you and your church group.

Blessings on Ya!

Please pray for me.

I had to go to my regular doctor today for several reasons.
I have type II diabetes and I went for my regular check up and have to go back for blood tests. All this is in the normal range of things that I have to do for that.
The second reason that I went today was to find out why I have had a great deal of bleeding from my bowel. This was not determined today because the problem could not be seen in the in-office visit. So I have to go for a colonoscopy at the hospital, on April 11, 2008, which will give a better idea as to what is going on.
I ask for the prayers of those that read this blog so I can move on with what I need to get done in the work of the kingdom of God.

Thank you in advance

We take pride - But Jesus

But Jesus...

• We take pride in birth and rank, but it’s said of Jesus, He was a carpenter’s son.

• We take pride in possessions, but it’s said of Jesus, “The Son of man hath no place to lay His head.”

• We take pride in our respectability, but it’s said of Jesus, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”

• We take pride in our personal appearance, but it’s said of Jesus, “He hath no form nor comeliness.”

• We take pride in our reputation, but it’s said of Jesus, “Behold a man gluttonous and a winebibber.”

• We take pride in our friendships, but it’s said of Jesus, “He was a friend of publicans and sinners.”

• We take pride in our independence, but Jesus gave himself to people and had the woman at the well draw water for him.

• We take pride in our degrees and learning, but Jesus never went to college and it’s said of Him, “How knows this man letters having never learned to read?”

• We take pride in our position, but Jesus said, “I am among you as one who serves.”

• We take pride in our success, but it’s said of Jesus, “His own did not receive Him or believe on Him. He was despised and rejected.”

• We take pride in our self-reliance, but it’s said of Jesus, “He went down to Nazareth and was subject to His parents.”

• We take pride in our abilities, but Jesus said, “I can of mine own self do nothing.”

• We take pride in our self-will, but Jesus said, “I seek not my own will but the Father’s.” And “If thou be willing, remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will but thine be done.”

• We take pride in our intellect, but Jesus said, “As the Father has taught me, I speak these things.”

• We take pride in our resentment and justifiable pride, but Jesus said, “Father, forgive them.”

• We take pride in our holiness, but it’s said of Jesus, “He receiveth sinners and eateth with them.”

• We take pride in the fact we’re the righteousness of God, but it’s said of Jesus, “He who knew no sin became sin on our behalf in order that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Kenneth Hagin’s Forgotten Warning
Before he died in 2003, the revered father of the Word-Faith movement corrected his spiritual sons for going to extremes with their message of prosperity.
Perhaps this needs addressed again with todays preachers.

You Think Things are Bad Today? - click here.

Here is a little food for thought for today. I live in an area near Pittsburgh, Pa. In Pittsburgh there is someone shot almost every day. Even in the small town that I live in there was a murder of a well known dentist in a love/hate triangle.

Note these Paradoxes

Upon first reading, these precepts gleaned from the gospels seem to defy human logic. A deeper study, however, will reveal that in them the Lord has outlined a wondrous pattern and a wise design for believers who want to enjoy a successful, overcoming life. Note these paradoxes:

We see unseen things (2 Cor. 4:18);
we conquer by yielding (Rom. 6:16-18);
we find rest under a yoke (Mt. 11:28-30);
we reign by serving (Mark 10:42-44);
we are made great by becoming little (Luke 9:48);
we are exalted by being humble (Mt. 23:12);
we become wise by being fools for Christ's sake (1 Cor. 1:20, 21);
we are made free by becoming His bond servants (Rom. 6:10);
we wax strong by being weak (2 Cor. 12:10);
we triumph by defeat (2 Cor. 12:7-9);
we find victory by glorying in our infirmities (2 Cor. 12:5);
and we live by dying (John 12:24,25; 2 Cor. 4:10,11).

What We Represent - click for videos

What We Represent
By John W. Kennedy | March 5, 2008

In his sermons at this week’s Assemblies of God Prayer Summit in Springfield, Mo., Brooklyn Tabernacle Pastor Jim Cymbala stressed a theme that Christians need to hear: Jesus taught that people will know we are Christians by our love for others.

Yet, sadly, that’s rarely the case in our culture. The world often knows what we oppose — same-sex marriage, drinking alcohol, stem cell research — because we spend a lot more time opposing than loving. Likewise, legalism about who we don’t find acceptable — card players and moviegoers a couple of generations ago, the pierced and tattooed today — can keep the non-Christian away from our churches.

If we are to reach the unchurched, it won’t be through denunciations of outward behavior or appearances. Nor will it be through a display of knowledgeable teaching. Cymbala noted that people want to know how they can get off crack cocaine or how they can recover their runaway daughter, not the history of the Philistines or what constitutes the mark of the beast.

Similarly, non-Christians are turned off by the lack of cooperation they see among those who represent Jesus. Racial division is pervasive in many congregations; different ethnicities usually don’t worship together. In addition, Pentecostals and other groups spend a lot of time being proud of doctrinal distinctives instead of uniting behind the Savior.

It’s hard for people to accept the gospel if they sense we don’t truly care about them. God may place a soul in our path who has overriding physical or emotional needs. If all we do is try to make a theological point with that person, we haven’t helped. Cymbala says the Lord has convicted him about the need to put his arm around a drug addict or a sex offender as a first step in offering hope in Jesus. That’s a good lesson for all of us.

Someone asked me about Christian Science and what they believe because of all the publicity regarding John Travolta and other Hollywood "stars" in the recent TV programs.
So I looked up some things regarding their beliefs and the above link is to one web site that deals with some things concerning Christian Science history and beliefs.
