The Problem with Vision - click here

Here is a blog entry about vision and how it works in this persons life. God's vision is both a source of joy and frustration to a pastor or other leader in the body of Christ.

Joy because you are seeking God and He is revealing His heart to you about some direction of ministry.

Frustration because everyone doesn't see where you believe God wants to go and resists the changes necessary or they have and believe that they can't get there from here mentality.

My take on it is this: If it is God's vision revealed to you then it is God's responsibility to bring it to pass. My responsibility is to do what I know God wants me to do right now and keep a right heart. Joseph is a great example of God bringing to pass the dream Jeseph had but it didn't come about in a conventional way of thinking and Joseph didn't make it happen but he served God through everything. He did what he knew was right to do where he was and with what he had.

Hope this helps someone.

Blessing on ya!

Don't expect smooth sailing for Sotomayor - click here

What are your comments on this issue?

Here is a brief look at President Obama's nominee to the Supreme Court. You may want to forward this to your friends.
Judge Sonia SotomayorCourt of Appeals for the Second Circuit
President Obama has promised to nominate liberal judicial activists who will indulge their left-wing policy preferences based on "empathy" instead of neutrally in applying the law. In selecting Sonia Sotomayor as his Supreme Court nominee, President Obama has carried out his promise.
In a speech as a Court of Appeals judge, she said, "The court is where policy is made." Her opinions have followed that approach. What she was referring to was that public policy was made by the Court of Appeals, not by the Legislature.
In a recent case, Ricci v. DeStefano, Sotomayor ruled that reverse racism was to be used in making decisions. She ruled in favor of a city that used racially discriminatory practices to deny promotions to firefighters. In Ricci, an applicant to be a firefighter scored the highest on the test but was denied the job because he was not black.
According to Judge Jose Cabranes, Sotomayor's colleague, Sotomayor's opinion "contains no reference whatsoever to the constitutional claims at the core of this case," and its "perfunctory disposition rests uneasily with the weighty issues presented by this appeal." Even the liberal Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen expressed disappointment with the case, stating, "Ricci is not just a legal case but a man who has been deprived of the pursuit of happiness on account of race."
Sotomayor readily admits that she applies her feelings and personal politics when deciding cases. In a 2002 speech given at Berkeley, she said she believes it is appropriate for judges to consider their "experiences as women and people of color," which she believes should "affect our decisions." She went on to say in that same speech, "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
The poor quality of Sotomayor's decisions is reflected in her record of reversals by the Supreme Court. Sixty percent of her decisions have been reversed by the Supreme Court.

Powerful testimony I just received...

Do you believe in HEALING TODAY?

Here is a glowing testimony of a healing that involved a lifeless child being brought back to life just like in the Bible accounts.
I copied this from a good brother's blog to share with the readers here. Enjoy this testimony, I did. Be encouraged in this day!

Powerful testimony I just received...
From Justin in Kigali, Rwanda...

Dear Chuck (Chuck king)

Love and greetings I am happy to let you know that our church house is
doing quite well, I must tell you that God has moved in our midst like never before. A case in point is where recently, A certain lady who is a member of our church lost her child meaning that the child died, and was brought to us for prayer. I was not present and my wife took the dead child into her arms and prayed so intensively for more than an hour and then began thanking the Lord for the healing just in faith then suddenly the child resurrected then followed wild excitement from the mother and other fellow believers as tears were in plenty while the testimony became the source of overwhelming joy for many who learned about it.

Let us keep praying for each other for the strengthening of God's Kingdom
Yours in Christ

“It Won’t Be Like This For Long.”

Is God challenging you big time as a husband and a daddy…calling you to take advantage of every moment He gives you to love and lead your family to love Him and others. Oddly enough, He’s using this song to call and motivate.

This song is special. Enjoy Darius’ acoustic rendition of his #1 hit, “It Won’t Be Like This For Long.” Then, go love your kids, especially your little girls, and make the most of every moment you have to love and lead them.

It won’t be like this for long.

POLITICS, POWER & PRIDE:

POLITICS, POWER & PRIDE: How American Evangelicals Lost the Culture War and the Way Forward From Here
Posted by Eddie Hyatt

Evangelicals may finally be realizing that political activism is not the path to preserving the Christian character and culture of America. After 30 years of the Moral Majority, the Christian Coalition and the religious right, America, last November, elected what are probably the most liberal president and congress in its history. Since that time 5 states have legalized homosexual marriage and others are poised to follow suit. Chuck Schumer, the influential, liberal senator from New York, gleefully declared that, “All this talk about family and traditional values is a thing of the past.” In the midst of all this, Dr. James Dobson, whom many would consider the most prominent voice of the religious right, solemnly announced, “We (evangelical Christians) have lost the culture war.”

Although this turn of events is disturbing for evangelical Christians, this could be the starting point for a national awakening unto God; but only if we admit our failures and turn from the notion that we can change America by our own efforts, political or otherwise.
We (Evangelicals) Have Been Wrong

Please understand that I am not suggesting that we should not be good citizens and participate in the political process; nor am I suggesting that God does not call some to civil service and statesmanship. But I am convinced that evangelical Christians in America crossed the line in trying to change America through political activism. We thought that if we could get enough Christians elected to Congress and elect a Christian president that we would preserve our Christian culture and heritage. Instead, politics, power and pride became characteristic of American evangelicalism, rather than prayer, compassion, humility and spiritual power. We forgot that America has a history of Spiritual awakenings and that this “revival heritage” has been the preserving force of our Christian culture.
God Will Not Ride in on Either an Elephant or a Donkey
Hopefully, some are beginning to realize that God’s purposes for America will not be realized through a political process or political party. As Dr. Tony Evans once said, “God will not ride into our midst on either an elephant (symbol of the Republican party) or a donkey (symbol of the Democrat party).”

In seeking a political solution to our spiritual problems we, as evangelical Christians, identified ourselves with a particular political party and, thereby, alienated ourselves from over half of the American populace. This is not good! Neither Jesus nor the earliest Christians identified themselves with any of the many political parties that were operative in their day; but, instead, preached a transcendent government or kingdom of God that would transform individuals (and thereby society) from within. We need to take a closer look at the New Testament in this area and adjust our thinking accordingly.
Let’s Remember Our Revival Heritage

Spiritual awakenings are an intrinsic part of American history. They are a vital part of who we are as a people. Perry Miller, the late professor of church history at Harvard University, said that the Declaration of Independence of 1776 was a direct result of the preaching of the evangelists of the First Great Awakening. Awakenings such as the First Great Awakening (1726-1750), the Second Great Awakening (1801-1840) and the great Prayer Revival of 1858 have preserved the Christian character of American culture at crucial times in our history. These were not religious excitements generated by the fleshly machinations of professional revivalists, but divine visitations in answer to the fervent, faith-filled prayers of God’s people.

It’s Time For Repentance & Change in the Church

America is in dire need of another national awakening. Such an awakening cannot be organized or strategized by skillful religious marketeers. Such awakenings are conceived in the womb of prayer and given birth through the absolute trust and simple obedience of God’s people.
If evangelical Christians are ready to admit that political activism is not the way to change America, this could be the beginning of our finest hour. If we will repent for our politics, for seeking power and for pride and call out to God with all our hearts, there is no reason why God will not answer with another national Spiritual awakening.

A Prayer For Spiritual Awakening

Here is a prayer that I offer for Spiritual awakening in this hour; and I pray that individuals and groups throughout America will begin to pray prayers such as this.

Oh LORD God, we come to You in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that we have missed the mark in all our efforts to save this nation. We repent of self-reliance and pride, and for imagining that we could make a difference in this nation by our own human efforts and through a mere political process. Oh LORD, we acknowledge that only you can change the heart of this nation and restore to it the fear and honor that belongs to You alone. We pray today that you will turn our hearts to you. Send the fire of your presence, power and love once again to this nation. We pray for another Great Awakening!

No Weapon That is Formed Against You Shall Prosper!

No Weapon That is Formed Against You Shall Prosper!
By Pastor Charles Kitner

During my bout with cancer and heart repair surgery this is the scripture that God gave me to assure and sustain me.

Isaiah 54:14-17 is the base scripture along with Romans8:28-30 for this message.
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV) 17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

To prosper is to be fruitful, successful, to do well, that is to accomplish what was meant to be accomplished by the thing formed. The servant of the Lord however has a heritage in the Lord and this heritage says that NO WEAPON THAT IS FORMED AGAINST the servant of the Lord shall prosper. The weapon that is formed against the servant of the Lord might as well be formed against the Lord Himself. Thus the weapon can not be successful that is formed against a servant of the Lord. I am a servant of the Lord and I come to declare my heritage together with you today.
Every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment, as a servant of the Lord, your heritage is to condemn it.
The truth of this Word cannot be overcome and certainly neither can the Lord. His Word is Truth and it shall stand sure.

A Look at Weapons:

1. The weapon of words – this weapon can’t prosper because of our heritage. As a servant of the Lord, He speaks on our behalf and He ever lives to make intercession for us. Therefore the weapon of words cannot prevail against us. As a servant of the Lord the Word of God that is truth and forever settled in heaven is what we allow to affect our lives in the guidance and direction that we need to hear and that Word is powerful. We are what God says we are and we have what God says we have. It is what Jesus Christ has done that makes us to be come the righteousness of God in Christ. We will be able to speak against those that speak against us and against the declarations made that are contrary to the Word that God has given. We have Christ in us, which is our hope of glory.

2. The weapon on sin- this weapon can’t prosper for the book of Romans says that as a servant of God sin will not have dominion over because we are free to serve righteousness. This is because of His work in me cleansing me and renewing me. When Jesus Christ died I died! When He was buried I was buried! When He rose from the dead I rose to newness of life also and I have His power coursing through my very being to walk in that newness of life. I have an advocate is I do sin, who is the Lord Jesus Christ who ever lives to make intercession for me with the Father. He is faithful and just to forgive me my sin as I confess it and cleanse me by His own blood, that was sacrificed at the cross, of all unrightesness.

3. The weapon of sickness- this weapon can’t prosper. Sickness and disease are something that have entered into this world because of sin and is a part of the curse. I am no longer under the curse of the Law but I am under grace and the Spirit of the law of love in Christ Jesus. The bread of the children of God is healing of the body, mind, spirit and soul. God’s glory will be seen in me and sickness and disease can’t prosper or be successful against me. By the stripes of Jesus I was healed.

4. The weapon of satan- this one is a spiritual being that is a liar, a murderer and a thief. (John 10:10) Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy but Jesus has come that I might have life and that in abundance. The Word of God says that if I submit myself to God and resist the devil, he will flee from me. Nothing that satan forms against me can prosper.. Jesus has been given all power in Heaven and in the earth and even under the earth. It is written…puts him down every time.
2 Corinthians 10:2 - 5 (KJV) 2But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

5. The weapon of people’s plots and plans -These weapons cannot proper. If we look at the book of Nehemiah we can see that God takes our part, as we serve Him, against those that rise up with their plots and plans that go contrary to the Word of God for us. God has a plan for good and not for evil and works on our behalf. We have to stand fast in the Lord and in the power of His might. We must put on the whole armor of God and keep working for God without stopping it for lies and schemes of those whom the devil is using against you. The Sanballats and Tobias of this world will never be successful against the anointed servants of God when they are committed to what God has put in their hearts.

Romans 8:28 is being worked in our lives as we serve God. We walk in the power of His might continuously being filled with the Holy Spirit singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord, singing Psalm and hymns and spiritual songs. It is God that works in us to do of His good pleasure and He will complete His work in us, for us and through us.
Our heritage is to be able to condemn every voice that speaks against us as we obey God. Every Knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

We will come forth as gold tried in the fire. Purified by the refiners fire

PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT

Here is something that I believe is a good idea. In addition to dialing 911 in an emergency it is a good idea to alert others around you to the fact that something is going on. It could save your life or save you from a horrible situation.

PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT

This was given to me by a Town Watch official and a law enforcement instructor in our town:

If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.....This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S. I am posting this here because I think it is fantastic. It would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. A wife suggested to her husband to carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe

Pastor: 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe
from The Christian Post
By Lillian Kwon
Christian Post Reporter

Many Christians, new and seasoned alike, tend to bank on promises that God never made, says one pastor.

So when God doesn't come through on those "promises," some are likely to become angry at God.

And "that to me as a pastor over all my years is always one of the saddest things," says Larry Osborne, teaching pastor at North Coast Church in Vista, Calif.

Osborne, whose church draws over 7,000 people, is hoping to spare a lot of Jesus followers from that anger. He’s also hoping Christians will peruse Scripture more and align themselves with what God really says rather than the “word on the street.”

So he spelled out some of the "dumb things smart Christians believe" – ten, to be specific – in a new book.

He calls those "dumb things" spiritual urban legends – a belief, story, assumption, or truism that gets passed around as fact even in Sunday-school class or a Bible study.

"What happens ... is somebody passes out a truism that sounds good and we've just heard it so many times [that] we don't bother to check it out," Osborne explained to The Christian Post. "And that's the source of most of these urban legends. They're true partially, but they're not true completely."

One of the partial truths many Christians fall victim to is the belief that living God's way will bring good fortune.

"The Bible makes no such promise," Osborne writes in 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe.

The 57-year-old pastor recalls one moment when a church attendee named Tim waited in line to talk to him after a weekend worship service.

"[A]s soon as I said, 'Hey, what's up?' he let loose," Osborne writes. "'Bleep your bleeping God!' he exclaimed. 'I'm done. Your Jesus hasn't done me a bit of good. I've tried to clean up my act. I even tried your damn tithing thing. It doesn't work. I just lost my job. My wife needs surgery, and now I don't have any insurance. Where's your bleeping God when we need him?'"

"After a few more expletives, he finally turned and stormed out. I never saw him again."

Osborne notes that it wasn't a series of "tough breaks" or "unfortunate events" that caused Tim's tirade. Rather, it was "a set of unfounded and unrealistic expectations about what it means to follow God and what should happen when we venture to do so" that set him off.

Tim's case isn't unique. Many Christians expect things to work out when living God's way, Osborne says.

"They all figure that a little bit of God might bring a little bit of luck. So why not rub the bottle and see if a genie pops out?" he writes.

Holding such a belief, however, could prove to be spiritually dangerous. Moreover, it results in a lot of "pretenders or dabblers" who try to play by the rules of Christianity but not really believe in what they're abiding.

"When we assume, imply, or promise that God is supposed to bring us good luck and lots of success, we're set up for deep disappointment and spiritual cynicism," he writes. "Even worse, we risk turning the King of kings into little more than a good-luck charm."

Osborne also warns that those who introduce Christ to others and testify of only the "abundant Christian life" while downplaying the "harder teachings of Jesus" set the stage for disillusionment when things go awry.

Following Christ can be tough and having faith isn't always going to fix everything.

It's another spiritual urban legend – that faith can fix anything – and another one that can lead to an angry outburst or a spiritual meltdown.

As a pastor, this is one of the most common urban legends Osborne has encountered.

Many Christians believe ridding themselves of doubts and having clear positive thinking – which is how many define "faith" – will lead to their desired outcome such as physical healing. But having faith doesn't always lead to victory, at least not in the earthly sense.

While the Bible famously "tells of kingdoms won, lions muzzled, flames quenched, weaknesses turned to strength, enemies routed, [and] the dead raised," it also speaks of people of faith who were "tortured, jeered, flogged, imprisoned, stoned, sawed in two, and put to death by the sword."

They all lived by faith "yet their faith didn't fix anything," Osborne points out.

What faith does promise, however, is forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.

"Faith is ... not an impenetrable shield that protects us from life's hardships and trials. It's not a magic potion that removes every mess," Osborne writes in his book. "It's designed to guide us on a path called righteousness."

Faith, Osborne says, is trusting enough to obey.

The other eight spiritual urban legends he lists are: forgiving means forgetting, a godly home guarantees godly kids, God has a blueprint for my life, Christians shouldn't judge, everything happens for a reason, let your conscience be your guide, a valley means a wrong turn, and dead people go to a better place.

The common thread through all of them, Osborne said, is the "disillusionment that comes when we bank of promises that God actually never made."

They're "partial truths that we shouldn’t be building the whole house on," said Osborne, who has been teaching a four-week series on urban legends – which include more than ten – over the past summers.

While Christians are not likely to buy into all of them, most may have one or two that they fall victim to, the North Coast pastor believes.

"Sometimes we treat the Bible as if it's a series of sound bites and little sayings that we can put on t-shirts, coffee cups and posters," Osborne pointed out. "But it's a big book."

"We need to look at what the Bible says about any subject in all of its passages. And when we do that we'll avoid these urban legends."
