NO EARTHLY GOOD

No Earthly Good
Colossians 3:1-4(KJV)
1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
One of the lies of the devil is you shouldn’t be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good. That is so far from the truth and the church has bought into that saying as being true.
We are instructed as true Christians to base our lives from the heavenly aspect. Seek those things that are above where Christ sits in the place of power and authority. He is the ultimate supplier of ALL that we have need of according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Set your affection that is to say (intensively to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience) as part of the meaning from STRONGS GREEK AND HEBREW DICTIONARY) to the word affection. If you can remember when you were going out with “the one true love of your life” the one you just couldn’t get enough of. The one you thought about all day long and called every time you got a chance even right you left each other just a few minutes ago. With that kind of intensity seek those things that are above…
Jesus Christ is your life and He is supposed to be seen in you. Your life is NOT supposed to reflect Him but show Him as alive in you. It is not longer I THAT LIVETH BUT Christ that liveth in me. Jesus said we are lights in the world not reflections. The problem in the church is just that. People don’t mind reflecting something because that doesn’t demand that they change but being a light demands we change and be to be seen as light.
You need to be so heavenly minded so as to be some earthly good. You are to be a witness unto the Lord in all the earth. The gospel is to be in power and not just words.

WAKE UP CHURCH!!!

When Thou Hast Brought Forth ---

Exodus 3:9-12(KJV)
9Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
11And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
12And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

A lot of times we miss what was said in the entire conversation with God. Here is what I see that God said. What God was telling Moses to do was already done as far as God is concerned. God had said I have come down to deliver MY people. He had already identified with them called them His people and said He was about to deliver them. Moses was the one through God chose to work.
Moses questions God at every step and asks. Who am I that I should go unto Pharaoh?
It doesn't depend on who we are but who HE is and what He wants to accomplish through our lives. He would teach what to say and the victory doesn't depend on who you are, what talent you have, how you speak but the victory depends upon the Lord. Just say what He wants said, everything else is on Him. Pastors would do good to understand this. God is the deliverer and He has chosen you as one who will say what He wants said to the people that He wants to say it to. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
You see we are the called according to His purpose! I then with Paul, must apprehend that for which I have been apprehended.

TRUTH - must be loved by us!

Ephesians 4:10 - 13 (NIV) 10He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 4:14 - 16 (NIV) 14Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

The body of Christ is not supposed to have their ears tickled so they can be comfortable. The are to have truth spoken to them in love by the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and teachers that God has set in the body for it's edification or building up in love.

God wants a powerful witness upon this earth of the heavenly kingdom and the tickling of the ears will not accomplish this. False doctrine or powerless preaching, will not accomplish the beautiful powerful church Jesus came to establish on this earth.

It will take TRUTH spoken in love to establish an edified body of Christ that takes the Word of the Lord as a must and becomes in truth the LIGHTS Jesus declared us to be. The church ought to be able to stand before this world and declare that if you have seen me you have seen Jesus - why? BECAUSE HE LIVES IN US - Paul shows us that it should no longer be us that lives but Christ living in us. That is the excellence to strive for and God will perfect it for the world to see Jesus.

"The church is not a social club...we are a holy people called out of darkness to show forth the glory of almighty God." AW Tozer

Acts 1:8 (KJV) 8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Receive ye the Holy Spirit of God as sent by The Lord Jesus Christ!

A Bride or a Whore?

A Bride or a Whore?
Tuesday May 11, 2010

Read Revelation 17:1-18

In the children’s story, “the Little Mermaid” a young mermaid is given the chance to become human, falls in love with a prince, and agrees to marry him. However an evil witch, Ursula, poses as the bride and seeks to steal the prince for herself. In the end of course Ursula is destroyed and Ariel is joined with her prince. (I must have watched this movie with my children a zillion times back in the day.) It would be a pretty creepy story if somehow the prince were to wed both. Some kind of part time marriage with a girlfriend on the side arrangement may work in the filth of television and movies but it will not fly in children’s story books or more importantly in eternity. God will not allow us to play the bride and the whore at the same time. We have to choose which we will be, especially in these days when we can almost hear the angel warming up the trumpet of Christ’s return.
One of the most striking things in the book of Revelation is the stark contrast between good and evil. One is either part of the New Jerusalem or the New Babylon for example. In Chapters 12 and 17 we see the contrast between the woman clothed with the sun, representing the people of God, and the whore of Babylon, who represents the enemy of God. In the last days she may be the false one world religion or government. In either case she seduces the nations into opposing God and persecuting his people.
In the last days we see these two women in clear opposition to each other, each having a separate destiny. The bride of Christ may be persecuted and pursued by the devil, but she is ultimately rescued by her husband and Lord. The false bride is judged and destroyed by the same.
The temptation we face today is to tell ourselves that we can follow Christ as his bride without having to separate ourselves from the lifestyle and values of this world. I fear that we have handed the world a gospel full of loopholes and exceptions that give the false impression that we can follow Christ without really having to make any changes in our lifestyle. We’ve told them, “Just pray this prayer and you’re saved.” In so doing we have taught a whole generation how to dress like a bride by day and walk the streets at night. Without a clean break from our old life of sin and a decision to follow Christ faithfully there is no salvation.
Let us remember today what verse 14 tells us: “He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings and those who are with him are called and chosen and faithful.” If we are to be with our prince forever we must live as those who are called- called out of the values of this world, Chosen- chosen to walk with him in holiness, and faithful- staying close to him in all our ways with no compromise. Let us remember today that our Lord is coming for a bride, not a girlfriend. He is coming for one committed to him forever, not a live in for the moment. He will not allow us to dine at his table by day while we walk the streets of Babylon at night. He will not invite you to have a home in the New Jerusalem while you lease an apartment in Babylon. Choose this day who you will serve. Let the world see in you the radiance of his called, chosen, and faithful bride.

The Almost Ready Event

by Craig Groeschel
The Almost Ready Event

When launching a new anything, most people want it to be perfect. Opening before it is perfect is often better than waiting for perfection.

One of my friends opened a yogurt store before he had signs, pictures, or decorations. Instead of a cool clock on the wall, he put up a piece of paper with “clock” written on it.

My friend greeted everyone that came in and explained how they were his special guests. The store has taken off—and they still don’t have the clock up.

In church, people love to be in on the ground floor. The sound system doesn’t have to be perfect. All of the walls don’t have to be painted. The carpet might not even be laid.

When launching a new program, it might not need a logo, a room, or an agenda. Sometimes a vision an the right leader may be all you need to start.

If everything is done, people don’t get to contribute to or enjoy the process.

Even if everything is not perfect, God can still work through a mess.

What needs to be started in your life even though it is not to a place of perfection yet?

MOM

For Mom's: "You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, and training them up in God's fear, and minding the house, and making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts." - Charles Spurgeon
