Labourers Together With God

1 Cor.3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

The church is God's team on the earth to preach the Gospel of the kingdom in all the world for a witness. The goal is set by the team owner and as his teams spread out over the world we need to constantly ask the owner for direction in carrying out His desired end or goal.

If a team is 2 reach its potential, each player must be willing 2 subordinate his goals 2 the good of the team. -Bud Wilkinson

Are we willing to submitt to the plan of God in all we do or are we independently trying to be somebody in the kingdom for our own purposes?
See Isaiah 1:19

"The Holy Spirit is committed to fulfil Christ’s promise “I will build my church”. That is His business. It is also our business and explains the whole vibrating scene of the ministry.

Nobody can destroy what God builds. Nobody can shut a door He opens. The Cross of Christ is the immoveable rock in the history of the roaring seas of mankind. Atheists and rulers have announced that God was dead or about to die. He hasn’t. They have! While inscribing Christ’s gravestone with RIP a hand has been laid on their shoulder and a voice has said “I am He that was dead and behold I am alive for ever more”!

We are late comers. The torch has been passed to us from the hands of heroes, scholars, martyrs, and millions of unknown believers. They look over the cloud of glory to encourage us. We dare not fail them. REINHARD BONNKE"

Our Father's Business

Luke 2:41-52(KJV)
Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Is the church about the Father's Business or their own business?
The church must ask itself some questions. Are we doing what the people want or what the Father wants?
To get out of the business as usual, the local church should begin to ask itself: "What of eternal significance happens in the life of each individual while in the care of the church?" (from We Build People Making Disciples in the 21st Century).

Are we really about our Father's Business?

What's in Your Hand

What is in your hand? That is the question that God asked Moses and it is the question that He is asking you today as you read this post.
How you respond to God is what will determine the course of your life. If you lay it all down then God will make it come alive for you but if you hold it then it will remain dead. When Moses threw the staff down it turned into a living thing and God said to pick it back up. From that time on the staff of Moses was called the rod of God. It was used to do what ever God wanted to accomplish through Moses from that point as well.
We would do good to throw down what ever is in our hand so God can make it come alive and then we can accomplish whatever God wants done.

THINK ABOUT IT and don't hold anything back from God.

The Gospel is not to be made complicated!

Keep it Simple

Procter & Gamble Chief Executive A. G. Lafley believes that simplicity is the key to good communication. He told the U.S. News and World Report:
Repeat after me. If that sounds simplistic, Lafley is the first to admit that it is. Yet in a company where more than half the employees don't speak English as their first language, he says his Sesame Street- simple slogans, repeated over and over, keep everyone trained on what's important. Human beings "don't want to stay focused," he says. "So my job is to get them to focus their creativity around the focus; focus their productivity around the focus; focus their efficiency or effectiveness around the focus." Insecure leaders create complexity. Simple, direct language keeps people tuned in to what's important. Simple communication doesn’t come from a simple mind. It comes from tough-minded clarity of thought.
Jack Trout, a promoter of simplicity, suggests in his book The Power of Simplicity, that these famous adages wouldn’t be so famous if they had been written with a heavier hand and fancier words:

• Pulchritude possesses profundity of a merely cutaneous nature.
(Beauty is only skin deep.) Simply said.

• It is not efficacious to indoctrinate a superannuated canine with innovative maneuvers.
(You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.) Simply said.

• Visible vapors that issue from carbonaceous materials are a harbinger of imminent conflagration.
(Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.) Simply said.

• A revolving mass of lithic conglomerates does not accumulate a congery of small green bryophitic plants.
(A rolling stone gathers no moss.) Simply said.

Communicate the Gospel in simple terms and not in great theological terms that only those in the same circle know what was said. I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God unto Salvation. Preach the Gospel, be instant in season and out of season. (K-I-S-S)

8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

POLITICS, POWER & PRIDE:

POLITICS, POWER & PRIDE: How American Evangelicals Lost the Culture War and the Way Forward From Here
Posted by Eddie Hyatt

Evangelicals may finally be realizing that political activism is not the path to preserving the Christian character and culture of America. After 30 years of the Moral Majority, the Christian Coalition and the religious right, America, last November, elected what are probably the most liberal president and congress in its history. Since that time 5 states have legalized homosexual marriage and others are poised to follow suit. Chuck Schumer, the influential, liberal senator from New York, gleefully declared that, “All this talk about family and traditional values is a thing of the past.” In the midst of all this, Dr. James Dobson, whom many would consider the most prominent voice of the religious right, solemnly announced, “We (evangelical Christians) have lost the culture war.”

Although this turn of events is disturbing for evangelical Christians, this could be the starting point for a national awakening unto God; but only if we admit our failures and turn from the notion that we can change America by our own efforts, political or otherwise.
We (Evangelicals) Have Been Wrong

Please understand that I am not suggesting that we should not be good citizens and participate in the political process; nor am I suggesting that God does not call some to civil service and statesmanship. But I am convinced that evangelical Christians in America crossed the line in trying to change America through political activism. We thought that if we could get enough Christians elected to Congress and elect a Christian president that we would preserve our Christian culture and heritage. Instead, politics, power and pride became characteristic of American evangelicalism, rather than prayer, compassion, humility and spiritual power. We forgot that America has a history of Spiritual awakenings and that this “revival heritage” has been the preserving force of our Christian culture.
God Will Not Ride in on Either an Elephant or a Donkey
Hopefully, some are beginning to realize that God’s purposes for America will not be realized through a political process or political party. As Dr. Tony Evans once said, “God will not ride into our midst on either an elephant (symbol of the Republican party) or a donkey (symbol of the Democrat party).”

In seeking a political solution to our spiritual problems we, as evangelical Christians, identified ourselves with a particular political party and, thereby, alienated ourselves from over half of the American populace. This is not good! Neither Jesus nor the earliest Christians identified themselves with any of the many political parties that were operative in their day; but, instead, preached a transcendent government or kingdom of God that would transform individuals (and thereby society) from within. We need to take a closer look at the New Testament in this area and adjust our thinking accordingly.
Let’s Remember Our Revival Heritage

Spiritual awakenings are an intrinsic part of American history. They are a vital part of who we are as a people. Perry Miller, the late professor of church history at Harvard University, said that the Declaration of Independence of 1776 was a direct result of the preaching of the evangelists of the First Great Awakening. Awakenings such as the First Great Awakening (1726-1750), the Second Great Awakening (1801-1840) and the great Prayer Revival of 1858 have preserved the Christian character of American culture at crucial times in our history. These were not religious excitements generated by the fleshly machinations of professional revivalists, but divine visitations in answer to the fervent, faith-filled prayers of God’s people.

It’s Time For Repentance & Change in the Church

America is in dire need of another national awakening. Such an awakening cannot be organized or strategized by skillful religious marketeers. Such awakenings are conceived in the womb of prayer and given birth through the absolute trust and simple obedience of God’s people.
If evangelical Christians are ready to admit that political activism is not the way to change America, this could be the beginning of our finest hour. If we will repent for our politics, for seeking power and for pride and call out to God with all our hearts, there is no reason why God will not answer with another national Spiritual awakening.

A Prayer For Spiritual Awakening

Here is a prayer that I offer for Spiritual awakening in this hour; and I pray that individuals and groups throughout America will begin to pray prayers such as this.

Oh LORD God, we come to You in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that we have missed the mark in all our efforts to save this nation. We repent of self-reliance and pride, and for imagining that we could make a difference in this nation by our own human efforts and through a mere political process. Oh LORD, we acknowledge that only you can change the heart of this nation and restore to it the fear and honor that belongs to You alone. We pray today that you will turn our hearts to you. Send the fire of your presence, power and love once again to this nation. We pray for another Great Awakening!

This church actually voted against The Great Commission!

Think about the mindset of the church and what is the guiding principle for what the church does and should be doing. Question for you: Who is the owner of the church?
Your church board or Jesus Christ the one who declared in Matthew 16:18 that He would build His church. Bricks and mortar is not what matters people do.

Matthew 16:13 - 19 (NIV) 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

See the following from a sermon entitled “Living the Resurrection Life” by Rocky Henriques

I was talking to a pastor friend the other day, who teaches a small seminary extension class. These are men and women who either are now or will be serving a church in some paid staff position. They were discussing in their class the issue of the church reaching out to people who are different from those in the church. My friend warned the class of a very sobering truth: that some of them would be fired from their churches if they actually did reach out to others, the way Jesus taught and commanded.
One of the students is a pastor. He told the class that some in his church were actually reaching out to others who were different—socially, ethnically, economically. And some of those people began to attend his church. But then some of the more influential church members began to be “concerned” because of these people who were attending “their” church. So the pastor said, “Well, folks, this is what The Great Commission says that we are to do.” He was saying to them, “This is our mission. This is our responsibility.” He received such opposition to the whole idea that he put The Great Commission to a vote in his church! Do we support it or not? And that sounds a little comical to us.
But then this pastor told his stunned classmates that the church actually voted against The Great Commission! Can you imagine? I heard my friend telling this and I just shook my head in disbelief. But then I realized something: there are churches who call themselves “Christian” all across our great land who have already voted against The Great Commission by their inactivity, by their apathy, by their nonchalant attitude toward anything spiritual. There are people who call themselves “Christian” around the world, starting right here in our own community, who have already voted against The Great Commission by their don’t-care attitude regarding our responsibilities for service in the Kingdom of God.
May God revive our hearts and empower us to obey Him in doing what He tells us to do. – by Rocky Henriques
