10 Reasons I Don’t Like Most Christians

I thought this was interesting so I placed it here for you all to see also.
I have listed the author and given you his blogspot address if you click on the title of this blog edition.

Author: Tony Morgan

After going back and forth on this for a couple of weeks, I’ve decided to just do it. I mentioned recently that I’m not sure I like Christians. With the help of some of my friends, here are the top…

10 Reasons I Don’t Like Most Christians

1. They consistently seem angry and bitter and worried. I thought Christians were supposed to reflect joy and kindness and peace.
2. They don’t dream big dreams. That seems odd given the fact that we’re supposedly worshiping a God who is “able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare ask or hope.”
3. They seem to worship their theology more than Jesus. For whatever reason, this appears to be especially true for folks that come from a reformed theology.
4. They don’t like it when other people or ministries experience success. Think about it. There are Christians who would be overwhelmed with joy if NewSpring experienced fewer salvations, fewer baptisms and our attendance dropped.
5. They use prayer as an excuse for inaction. They’re waiting for God to do his thing, but they aren’t willing to step out in faith and obedience.
6. They’re more concerned with the BMW next door than the lost person who drives it. Christians hate people with money. They’re willing to sacrifice time and money for those without it, but they’re satisfied to let “rich” people go to Hell.
7. They would rather people live life without Jesus than give up their personal preferences. What happens when your preferred teacher doesn’t teach? What happens when your preferred worship leader doesn’t lead? What happens when you don’t like the music?
8. They are fake. They dress up a certain way on Sunday and they live as completely different people the rest of the week.
9. They think they’re better than other people. That’s why they create rules to follow. It helps differentiate why they are holy while others are not.
10. They’re comfortable with mediocrity. Doesn’t matter where. Think Christian music and movies. Think how we invest our time and money. You don’t seriously think God deserves our best do you?
The reality is that I’ve sinned in just about every one of these areas. It pains me to say that, but it’s true. If people hear the Gospel and reject Jesus, that’s one thing. If I’m the barrier to people accepting Christ because of me and my sin, that’s a completely different deal. Fortunately, God’s much bigger than my stupidity.

When does your humanness get in the way of people knowing the hope, forgiveness and love of Jesus? Does your life make people curious about the claims of Jesus or does it make them flee? What would you add to the list?

Do you believe in miracles?

If you believe in miracles you will pass this on...I did!
Santa and Sarah

Three years ago, a little boy and his grandmother came to see Santa at the Mayfair Mall in Wisconsin . The child climbed up on his lap, holding a picture of a little girl.
"Who is this?" asked Santa, smiling. "Your friend? Your sister?'"
"Yes, Santa,' he replied. "My sister, Sarah, who is very sick," he said sadly.
Santa glanced over at the grandmother who was waiting nearby, and saw her dabbing her eyes with a tissue. "She wanted to come with me to see you, oh, so very much, Santa!" the child exclaimed. "She misses you," he added softly.
Santa tried to be cheerful and encouraged a smile to the boy's face, asking him what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas.
When they finished their visit, the Grandmother came over to help the child off his lap, and started to say something to Santa, but halted.
"What is it?" Santa asked warmly.
"Well, I know it's really too much to ask you, Santa, but.." the old woman began, shooing her grandson over to one of Santa's elves to collect the little gift which Santa gave all his young visitors.
"The girl in the photograph.. . my granddaughter well, you see .. she has leukemia and isn't expected to make it even through the holidays," she said through tear-filled eyes. "Is there any way, Santa, any possible way that you could come see Sarah? That's all she's asked for, for Christmas, is to see Santa."
Santa blinked and swallowed hard and told the woman to leave information with his elves as to where Sarah was, and he would see what he could do. Santa thought of little else the rest of that afternoon. He knew what he had to do. "What if it were MY child lying in that hospital bed, dying," he thought with a sinking heart, "This is the least I can do."
When Santa finished visiting with all the boys and girls that evening, he retrieved from his helper the name of the hospital where Sarah was staying. He asked the assistant location manager how to get to Children's Hospital.
"Why?" Rick asked, with a puzzled look on his face.
Santa relayed to him the conversation with Sarah's grandmother earlier that day.
"C'mon.....I' ll take you there." Rick said softly. Rick drove them to the hospital and came inside with Santa..
They found out which room Sarah was in. A pale Rick said he would wait out in the hall.
Santa quietly peeked into the room through the half-closed door and saw little Sarah on the bed.

The room was full of what appeared to be her family; there was the Grandmother and the girl's brother he had met earlier that day. A woman whom he guessed was Sarah's mother stood by the bed, gently pushing Sarah's thin hair off her forehead. And another woman who he discovered later was Sarah's aunt, sat in a chair near the bed with a weary, sad look on her face. They were talking quietly, and Santa could sense the warmth and closeness of the family, and their love and concern for Sarah.
Taking a deep breath, and forcing a smile on his face, Santa entered the room, bellowing a hearty, "Ho, ho, ho!"
"Santa!" shrieked little Sarah weakly, as she tried to escape her bed to run to him, IV tubes intact.
Santa rushed to her side and gave her a warm hug. A child the tender age of his own son -- 9 years old -- gazed up at him with wonder and excitement. Her skin was pale and her short tresses bore telltale bald patches from the effects of chemotherapy. But all he saw when he looked at her was a pair of huge, blue eyes. His heart melted, and he had to force himself to choke back tears. Though his eyes were riveted upon Sarah's face, he could hear the gasps and quiet sobbing of the women in the room.
As he and Sarah began talking, the family crept quietly to the bedside one by one, squeezing Santa's shoulder or his hand gratefully, whispering "Thank you" as they gazed sincerely at him with shining eyes. Santa and Sarah talked and talked, and she told him excitedly all the toys she wanted for Christmas, assuring him she'd been a very good girl that year.
As their time together dwindled, Santa felt led in his spirit to pray for Sarah, and asked for permission from the girl's mother. She nodded in agreement and the entire family circled around Sarah's bed, holding hands. Santa looked intensely at Sarah and asked her if she believed in angels.
"Oh, yes, Santa... I do!" she exclaimed.

"Well, I'm going to ask that angels watch over you." he said. Laying one hand on the child's head, Santa closed his eyes and prayed. He asked that God touch little Sarah, and heal her body from this disease. He asked that angels minister to her, watch and keep her. And when he finished praying, still with eyes closed, he started singing, softly, "Silent Night, Holy Night.... all is calm, all is bright..."
"The family joined in, still holding hands, smiling at Sarah, and crying tears of hope, tears of joy for this moment, as Sarah beamed at them all.
When the song ended, Santa sat on the side of the bed again and held Sarah's frail, small hands in his own. "Now, Sarah," he said authoritatively, "you have a job to do, and that is to concentrate on getting well. I want you to have fun playing with your friends this summer, and I expect to see you at my house at Mayfair Mall this time next year!"
He knew it was risky proclaiming that to this little girl who had terminal cancer, but he "had" to. He had to give her the greatest gift he could -- not dolls or games or toys -- but the gift of HOPE.
"Yes, Santa!" Sarah exclaimed, her eyes bright. He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead and left the room.
Out in the hall, the minute Santa's eyes met Rick's, a look passed between them and they wept unashamed.
Sarah's mother and grandmother slipped out of the room quickly and rushed to Santa's side to thank him.
"My only child is the same age as Sarah," he explained quietly. "This is the least I could do." They nodded with understanding and hugged him.

One year later, Santa Mark was again back on the set in Milwaukee for his six-week, seasonal job which he so loves to do. Several weeks went by and then one day a child came up to sit on his lap.
"Hi, Santa! Remember me?!"
"Of course, I do," Santa proclaimed (as he always does), smiling down at her. After all, the secret to being a "good" Santa is to always make each child feel as if they are the "only" child in the world at that moment.
"You came to see me in the hospital last year!"
Santa's jaw dropped. Tears immediately sprang in his eyes, and he grabbed this little miracle and held her to his chest. "Sarah!" he exclaimed. He scarcely recognized her, for her hair was long and silky and her cheeks were rosy -- much different from the little girl he had visited just a year before. He looked over and saw Sarah's mother and grandmother in the sidelines smiling and waving and wiping their eyes.
That was the best Christmas ever for Santa Claus.
He had witnessed --and been blessed to be instrumental in bringing about -- this miracle of hope.. This precious little child was healed. Cancer-free. Alive and well. He silently looked up to Heaven and humbly whispered, "Thank you, Father. 'Tis a very, Merry Christmas!"

This Makes Me Want To Charge Hell With A Water Pistol

This Makes Me Want To Charge Hell With A Water Pistol
There are often things I read that inspire and motivate me…and then there are things that I read that MOVE me…SERIOUSLY move me…

In my opinion, Brian Houston is one of the most incredible leaders on the planet…and today I want to share something that he said in regards to the church that COULD be one of the most POWERFUL things I’ve ever read…

If you are a church leader or volunteer…seriously take a few minutes to read through this…and then beg God that this would be true of your church…I am BEGGING God for this at NewSpring Church…
“The church that I see is a church of influence. A church so large in size that the city and nation cannot ignore it.

A church growing so quickly that buildings struggle to contain the increase.

I see a church whose heartfelt praise and worship touches heaven and changes earth. Worship which influences the praises of people throughout the earth exalting Christ with powerful songs of faith and hope.

I see a church whose alters are constantly filled with repentant sinners responding to Christ’s call to salvation.

Yes, the church that I see is so dependent on the Holy Spirit that nothing will stop it not stand against it.

A church whose people are unified, praying and full of God’s Spirit.

The church that I see has a message so clear that lives are being changed forever and potential is fulfilled though the power of His Word. A message beamed to the peoples of the earth through their television screens.

I see a church so compassionate that people are drawn from impossible situations into a loving and friendly circle of hope, where answers are found and acceptance is given.

I see a people so kingdom-minded that they will count whatever the cost and pay whatever the price to see revival sweep this land.

The church that I see is a church to committed to raising, training and empowering a leadership generation to reap the end-time harvest that all its ministries are consumed with this goal.

I see a church whose head is Jesus, whose help is the Holy Spirit and whose focus is the Great Commission.

Yes, the church that I see could well be our church.”

WOW…thanks Brian for being an amazing leader and inspiring us with the words so clearly given to you by Jesus!!!

I just went to my surgeon for a follow-up visit after the surgery.
My doctor visit went well. I don't have to go back for another followup
visit unless there is some kind of problem and I don't think that will be the
case.
I just have to go to the oncologist and get a final cat-scan and I will be
through with the doctor visits for a while.
I have the paththology reports from the surgery and there is no cancer in
any of the lympth nodes and it never broke through the back wall of the rectum
so it was contained to the spot where it was and ther is no cancer in the
tissue around the spot... so it was good report.
I have recovered fully from the heart by-pass and all seems to be going very
well.
I appreciate all the prayers and I still have the peace of God that He has
given throughout all the things that I have been through this past summer.
God is good all the time. His grace is sufficient and it is His power
released into a life that would be unable to handle things in the natural
but through Christ we can do all things for sure.
Blessings on you and your family for the holidays and all year long as well.

What Did the Turkey Do?

The Parrot
A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.
Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.
Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly open the door to the freezer, the parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said, "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."
John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued, "May I ask what the turkey did?"
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The Time Has Come

Tomorrow, October 29, 2008 is the date of a scheduled operation to remove cancer from my body as well as my Gallbhladder. I am confident that Isaiah 54:17 still governs what will happen and the desired outcome of the Lord. He gave me the scripture before I knew I need it and the grace of God has kept me in perfect peace through all the surprises that I have faced physically. Nothing surprises God in our lives. We are the ones that must remember that He has a plan that is for good and not for evil and that plan will give us the desired outcomes of life.
Keep me in prayer for sure as prayer definitely works...God both hears and answers them without doubt.
Keep Dr. Wolfgang Schraut and every person that would have anything to do with my stay in the hospital in prayer as well. I don't want anyone but the right people to touch me in any way.

God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good!

Blessings on you all!

Don’t Quit

Don’t Quit

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay.” – Hebrews 10:36-37

If you’re discouraged because of God’s delay in answering your prayers, understand the delay is NOT a denial. Just because the answer or the miracle hasn’t come – yet – that doesn’t mean God isn’t going to answer or that he’s forgotten you or that he doesn’t care about you. It simply means “not yet!”

Spiritual maturity is knowing the difference between “no” and “not yet,” between a denial and a delay. The Bible tells us, “He who is coming will come and will not delay” (Hebrews 10:37 NIV).

The delay may be a test of your patience. Anybody can be patient once. And, anybody can be patient twice. And, just about anybody can be patient three times. So God tests you patience over and over and over.

Why? To see how patient you are?

No, he does it to show you how patient you are. So you’ll know what’s inside of you, and you’ll be able to know your level of commitment. God tests you so that you can know he is faithful, even if the answers you seek are delayed.

If you’re discouraged, turn it around by remembering God teaches you patience during delay. Ask him to transform your discouragement into patience.

You may be going through difficult times right now and feel like dropping off the planet. You’re discouraged because the situation you face seems unmanageable, unreasonable, or unfair.

It may seem unbearable and inside you’re basically saying, “God, I can’t take it anymore. I just can’t take it anymore!”

But you can.

You can stay with it longer because God is with you. He’ll enable you to press on. Remember, you are never a failure until you quit.

Don’t quit. Resist discouragement and finish the race God has set before you.

Communication: Keep it Simple

Communication: Keep it Simple

Procter & Gamble Chief Executive A. G. Lafley believes that simplicity is the key to good communication. He told the U.S. News and World Report:
Repeat after me. If that sounds simplistic, Lafley is the first to admit that it is. Yet in a company where more than half the employees don't speak English as their first language, he says his Sesame Street- simple slogans, repeated over and over, keep everyone trained on what's important. Human beings "don't want to stay focused," he says. "So my job is to get them to focus their creativity around the focus; focus their productivity around the focus; focus their efficiency or effectiveness around the focus." Insecure leaders create complexity. Simple, direct language keeps people tuned in to what's important. Simple communication doesn’t come from a simple mind. It comes from tough-minded clarity of thought.
Jack Trout, a promoter of simplicity, suggests in his book The Power of Simplicity, that these famous adages wouldn’t be so famous if they had been written with a heavier hand and fancier words:

• Pulchritude possesses profundity of a merely cutaneous nature.
(Beauty is only skin deep.) Simply said.

• It is not efficacious to indoctrinate a superannuated canine with innovative maneuvers.
(You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.) Simply said.

• Visible vapors that issue from carbonaceous materials are a harbinger of imminent conflagration.
(Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.) Simply said.

• A revolving mass of lithic conglomerates does not accumulate a congery of small green bryophitic plants.
(A rolling stone gathers no moss.) Simply said.

Communicate the Gospel in simple terms and not in great theological terms that only those in the same circle know what was said.

From: Gary L. Bauer

COUNTDOWN TO NOVEMBER 4TH: 22 DAYS TO ELECTION DAY

Obama's New Welfare Plan

The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Times today published articles about Barack Obama's plan to offer "tax cuts to 95% of working families." Both articles concluded that the Obama plan is a massive shell-game, redistributing income from one group to another group, similar to welfare. Here's why: According to various independent analyses, the Obama "tax cuts" would send government checks to millions of households that pay no federal income tax. By any rational definition, that's not a tax cut – it's welfare!

According to the Tax Foundation, under current law, there will be "47 million tax returns with zero-income tax liability in 2009… That's one-third of all tax returns and those 47 million tax returns represent 96 million individuals." The Heritage Foundation estimates that "by 2011, under the Obama plan, an additional 10 million filers would pay zero taxes while cashing checks from the IRS." And the Tax Policy Center found that the government payments for such "refundable tax credits" will balloon to more than $1 trillion in ten years.

In addition, the Wall Street Journal reports that because many of Obama's "tax credits" are phased out as you earn more, they become a "disincentive to working harder" for many middleclass workers who take on extra overtime or a second job. According to the Journal's analysis, "Some families with an income of $40,000 could lose up to 40 cents in vanishing credits for every additional dollar earned."

How does Obama pay for this plan to give "tax cuts" to people who do not currently pay income taxes? He raids Social Security. The Washington Times report notes, "The Obama campaign dismisses such criticism, arguing that even if many working taxpayers owe no income taxes, they pay Social Security payroll taxes out of their earnings." So to afford government payments to folks who do not pay incomes taxes, the Obama plan will further erode the solvency of Social Security.

Campaigning in Ohio yesterday, Obama was asked about his tax plan by a plumber, who said, "Do you believe in the American dream? I'm being taxed more and more for fulfilling the American dream." Obama's answer was very revealing. He told this plumber, "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

"Spreading the wealth" and mandating equality of results is socialism, my friends. Government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers. What government should do is create an environment where there is equal opportunity for everyone to succeed on their own merits and ability.

There is really only one way to be a loser!

Tuesday Morning Epistles

Kyle Rote Sr. was a consensus All-American football player at Southern Methodist University in 1950 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame sixteen years later. He was the first pick in the 1951 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, where he played with distinction for the next eleven years. His son, Kyle Jr., chose soccer over football and became one of the first well-known, American-born professional soccer players. The younger Rote once said, "There is no doubt in my mind that there are many ways to be a winner, but there is really only one way to be a loser, and that is to fail and not look beyond the failure."

I can't begin to tell you how many people I have known who have let a personal or professional failure imprint them for life—never rising above the place where they "crashed and burned." Some have allowed one failure to destroy their lives and profession. Others, on the other hand, have determined that their failure would not be fatal. (Simon Peter was one who not only survived his denial of Jesus but went on to become a leader in the New Testament Church.) Those who have followed in the tracks of Peter have recovered their integrity, have earned back their good reputation, and their future became more successful than anything they had done in the past. I applaud these folk. They redeemed their past, and with God's help they re-directed their failure to project them forward. And God has blessed them.

This week's "Tuesday Morning" is entitled "Failing Forward." It is the title of a book written by Dr. John Maxwell. Continue reading whenever you are ready. Then—please do this—forward this message to a friend who is burdened down with guilt and pain over a failed past. This essay is not a sermon. It is a way through the wilderness. I am praying now that someone you know will be encouraged and will re-direct their life to follow the plan that God has had in mind for them all along.

Surgery Date Scheduled

I had the appointment with the cancer surgeon Dr. Wolfgang Schaurt at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital Sept. 29. As a result of this visit and re-examination for the cancer to be removed from my body we have arranged for this to be done on October 29 because the doctor will be away for about a week and a half or two weeks. I will have all the preliminary blood tests done and be ready for this operation, with preaching substitutes in place for several weeks during the scheduled recovery time.

Keep this whole senerio in prayer along with those that are going to be involved with any phase of the operation and recovery. Only those that are ordained by the Lord should be involved and no one that should not be involved.

Cancer Surgeon Appointment Made

Monday September 29, 2008 I have an appointment with the surgeon, Dr Wolfgang Schaurt, that I originally talked with before I needed to have heart surgery. He will examine me and we will go forward from there with the removal of what is there of the cancer mass (if it is there) that was already treated with radiation and chemo.
Isaiah 54:17 is still in effect for my life as given to me before I knew that I had all this going on in my body.

Isaiah 54:17 (NIV) 17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.

Apostles Today?
Rediscovering the gift that leaves churches and well-connected pastors in its wake.
by Skye Jethani

We all know about the apostles named Peter, Paul, and John, but have you ever heard of Andronicus or Junia? Some are surprised to discover that the New Testament identifies more apostles than the twelve men who followed Jesus around Galilee. That fact raises some interesting, and even controversial, questions. What exactly is an apostle, what does the gift of apostleship look like, and how should we understand an apostle's role today?

Various theological streams and ecclesiastical traditions hold opposing views on apostleship. Some believe the gift was limited to the twelve disciples closest to Christ. Others contend that apostleship flourished during the foundational era of the church but is no longer active today. On the other end are those who believe modern apostles exist and possess the same authority as the Apostles who penned the New Testament.

Somewhere in the middle are those who affirm the gift's activity today but in a more generic capacity. The word literally means "sent one," a designation that may be applied to many believers. But the middle-ground viewpoint acknowledges there is a difference between being gifted as an apostle (little "a") and possessing the authority of an Apostle (capital "A")._ _ _ _ _ _ _

Questions of the Decade

Questions of the Decade

When I preach to people in their twenties, I am aware that they are asking questions such as:

What makes me different from my family of origin or the people around me?

In what direction am I going to point my life in order to pay my way through life?

Am I lovable and am I capable of loving?

Around what will I center my life?

Those in their thirties tend to have accumulated serious long-range responsibilities: spouses, babies, home mortgages, and serious income needs. Suddenly life becomes overrun with responsibilities. Time and priorities become important. Fatigue and stress levels rise. The questions shift to:

How can I get done all of these things for which I am responsible?

Why do I have so many self-doubts?

Why is my spiritual center so confused?

What happened to all the fun I used to have?

Why haven't I resolved all my sin problems?

Why is there so little time for friendships?

For people in their forties, the questions do not get any easier. Now they are asking:

Why are some of my peers doing better than me?

Why am I so often disappointed in myself, in others?

Why isn't my faith deeper?

Why is my marriage less than dazzling?

Why do I yearn to go back to the carefree days of my youth?

Should I scale back some of my dreams?

Why do I no longer feel attractive?

People in their fifties are asking:

Do these young people think I'm obsolete?

Why is my body becoming increasingly unreliable?

Why are so few of my friendships nourishing?

What do my spouse and I have in common now that the children are leaving?

Does this marriage of mine offer any intimacy at all?

Why is my job no longer a satisfying experience?

Are the best years of life over?

Do I have anything of value to give any longer?

Those in their sixties ask:

How long can I keep on doing the things that define me?

Why do my peers look so much older than me?

What does it mean to grow old?

How do I deal with angers and resentments that I've never resolved?

Why do my friends and I talk so much about death and dying?

Those in their seventies and above have questions such as:

Does anyone around here know who I once was?

How do I cope with all this increasing weakness around me?

How many years do I have left?

How long can I maintain my independence and my dignity?

When I die, how will it happen?

What about all these things I intended to do (and be) and never got around to?

Can a sermon speak to these issues? For many listeners, sermons that ignore these questions will not be credible.

It is around matters like these, which change through the years, that the preacher can speak into the fears, the failures and regrets, the longings and opportunities, and bring words of hope and clarity, touching a life with Christ's presence.—G.M.

It's not just living your words, it's knowing the lives of those you're speaking to.

Doctor Visit Updates

Wednesday 9/10/08 and Monday 9/15/08 I had doctor appointments. The first one was with the cardiologist. He examined me and gave me a good report and said I could now be released to have the cancer removed from my body and that he would fax a letter of release to do so to the doctor in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dr. Wolfgang Schrauet. He also gave me a new appointment for September of 2009 which is in a year from the time of our first appointment after surgery.

I then went to the surgeon that did my open-heart surgery. He examined me asked some questions and said that he also releases me to have the cancer removed. He said, after the exam, that it would not be necessary for me to see him again unless something developed with the areas involved with the surgery. Infection of any type etc. So I am healing up very well indeed! PTL! He has refered me for Cardiology Rehab at Latrobe Hospital facility if I was able to go or wanted to go afterward.

I have called the office of the surgeon in Pittsburgh and the nurse there said she would talk with Dr. Schrauet and get back to me in the next couple of days. So that ball is rolling now and I will keep everyone informed as I get the information concerning the next phase of this total cure for my body.

Advertisers to be "scolded" ???

Stuck in Neutral
By Scott Harrup | September 9, 2008

The New York Times reported today that the European Parliament has voted 504 to 110 to “scold advertisers for ‘sexual stereotyping,’ adopting a nonbinding report that seeks to prod the industry to change the way it depicts men and women.” The committee report influencing the vote, the Times noted, claimed stereotypes in advertising can “straightjacket women, men, girls and boys by restricting individuals to predetermined and artificial roles that are often degrading, humiliating and dumbed-down for both sexes.”

Some controls of advertising make sense. No one should be degraded or humiliated, and the article cited one ad campaign promoted violence against women. But the phrase that sticks out to me is the more general fear of “restricting individuals to predetermined and artificial roles.”

As a parent raising a daughter and two sons, I know there are very real differences naturally characteristic of girls and boys. And I should rephrase that last sentence. As a father, I recognize those differences from a perspective distinct from that of Jodie’s motherly point of view.

There are innumerable ways in which Lindsay moves along life’s path differently from Connor and Austin. And she wouldn’t want it any other way. None of my children feel “straightjacketed” or “restricted” as they grow into more mature expressions of feminine and masculine traits.

Further, my kids have a healthy appreciation for the things that make Jodie and me different. They rely on me in ways they don’t rely on Jodie, and vice versa.

Does this mean things are so rigid in our home that Jodie never takes out the trash and I refuse to run a vacuum or cook a meal? Absolutely not. Our children observe us helping each other without giving up one iota of our respective femininity or masculinity. And that’s how it should be.

So, here’s hoping the European Parliament won’t enact intrusive legislation to back up this currently nonbinding bit of silliness. As the French are fond of saying, “Vive la différence!”

Medical Update on my heart operation

I go back to the cardiologist on Wednesday afternoon for my 6 week heart check up after my operation for a quad bypass. This doctor did my heart catherization and found the blockage in the main arteries at 95% and in several other arteries as well.

I also go back to my surgeon who did my open heart operation on 9-15-08 this coming Monday afternoon. He has to check out his handiwork and see how the Lord has healed me ahead of what is normal.

Keep me in prayer as I will have to, after being released from the current recovery situation, face the removal of the cancer mass from my rectum. That is unless the Lord removes it by His own removal touch. (this is the prefered way)

At least I have gotten a little settled down after having to wait the 6 to 8 weeks after heart surgery to even consider the other. The operation for the removal of the cancer couldn't be done until the heart was repaired and strong enough for me to survive the operation without having a heart attack on the operating table.

Isaiah 54:17 still is in affect for me....no weapon that is formed against me shall prosper...Praise the Lord who is Good All the Time

Take a minute and ponder this.

Take a minute and ponder this.

I know everyone has a different opinion on the war and our current President. But, this article makes a lot of sense, Take 2 minutes, read it and give it some thought.
When electing the next President, the only decision you have to make is who you want sitting in that seat in the White House when? - not if -? WHEN we get hit again and millions of American lives are put at risk!
This is from: 'You ain't gonna like losing.'
Author unknown.

President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush's mistake came in his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII. It is not. Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression, but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the people's duty to back those leaders.
Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they had voted for them or not or whether the war was going badly or not.
And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war. But that did not matter. The people stuck with the President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to win that war.
Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to help the effort.
Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age or condition trying their best to join the military.
Women doubled their work to keep things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap, to butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.
You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President. Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and complain to them about our President. Instead, they made upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops' morale. And a bunch even enlisted.
And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for our country and our troops!
Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch spies. A newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it had complained that German or Japanese soldiers were being 'tortured' by being forced to wear women's underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.
There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography, perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed gangs roaming our streets.
No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our fathers fought so dearly to preserve.
It is not the same country. It is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorra and the land of Oz. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices.
We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty, to kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been estimated that about one third or over three hundred million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause... Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits. So... We either win it - or lose it - and you ain't gonna like losing.
America is not at war. The military is at war.
America is at the mall, or watching the movie stars.

(Remember Obama said in his book 'Audacity of Hope', 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction'.....what better place for the Muslins to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA .?

Think about it!

Does this describe you?

Someone sent this to me and I thought that I would share it with everyone.

(Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. )

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left..

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Coke aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don't remember who I've sent it to.

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day may come sooner than you think!!

Back in the Saddle Again

Sunday August 17, 2008. I preached my first sermon in the church since my heart by-pass operation just 2 1/2 weeks ago on July 31. I sat to preach in a special raised chair. I figured that if Jesus sat to teach or preach, then I could do it also. I felt pretty good, being back in the place where I have been since September 27, 1987. That's right, almost 21 full years in the same place. God has taught me a lot over the years and has used everything I have ever gone through to benefit someone in their lives. I missed the people and the special presence of God that is found within the corporate body as it is gathered together in one place to worship and exalt the Lord.
I preached on traits of a Christian leader. I came at it in this way: Every Christian is found to be in a place of leadership in some way. Everyone is a minister of some sort in the body as every joint supplies something that is needed in the one body of Christ. I know that there are some leaders that are placed within the body for the building up of the same for the works of ministry but everyone has some function within the body and all are lights in this world or should be.
Church needs to be done so the body functions and not just the talking heads. Action is the call of the day not passive pew warming.

Well blessings on Ya!

Napoleon Bonaparte Quote

"I know men, and I tell you that Jesus is not a man. The religion of
Christ is a mystery which subsists by its own force, and proceeds
from a mind which is not a human mind. We find in it a marked
individuality, which originated a train of words and actions unknown
before. Jesus is not a philosopher, for His proofs are miracles, and
from the first His disciples adored Him. Alexander, Caesar,
Charlemagne and myself founded empires; but on what foundation
did we rest the creatures of our genius? Upon force. But Jesus
Christ founded an empire upon love; and at this hour millions of
men would die for Him. I die before my time, and my body will be
given back to the earth to become food for worms. Such is the fate
of him who has been called the great Napoleon. What an abyss
between my deep misery and the eternal kingdom of Christ, which
is proclaimed, loved, adored, and is still existing over the whole
earth!" Then, turning to Gen. Bertrand, the emperor added: "If you
do not perceive that Jesus Christ is God, I did wrong in appointing
you a general." - Napoleon Bonaparte

The Mayonnaise Jar & 2 cups of coffee

The Mayonnaise Jar & 2 cups of coffee
"Author Unknown to Me."

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours
in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of
coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in
front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large
and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He
then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the
jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas
between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was
full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up ever ything else. He asked once more if the
jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and
poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty
space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subs ided, 'I wan t you to
recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the
important things--GOD, your family, your children, your health, your
friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and
only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house
and your car.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into
the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the
golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and
ener gy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that
are important to you.

'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Praying and asking God to help, Play with your children. Take time to
get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take
care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your
priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented. The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no m atter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend

GOD, Keep Me Teachable!

2 Timothy 2:1 - 7 (KJV) 1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

In order for a man to be used of God he must be taught the correct things by men who have gone through the process together with men and the Holy Spirit.
If a man will not allow truth to come to him through anointed teaching, doctrinal correctness and the witness of the Holy Spirit by the Word of God, he cannot be used of God in a powerful and meaningful way.
I would suggest that Christians everywhere pray a prayer something like this:
Father I humble myself before you and want my spirit to always be teachable in the ways of God, the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and TRUTH by the Holy Spirit, so that I can be used by you to teach others the ways of the kingdom of God.
In Jesus Name!

This is incredible - Attitude counts!

I'm Back

"The Sunday morning service shows how popular your church is.
The evening services show how popular your pastor is.
Your private prayer time shows you how popular God is!"
- Leonard Ravenhill

Hi everyone!
I'm back home as of Monday afternoon. I was operated on last Thursday and had four by-passes done on the heart instead of five. The doctor came in on Sunday afternoon and asked me if I wanted to go home on Monday and I said yes. So on Monday morning he came in and asked what time I wanted to go home and he released me to go, after looking at my inscision etc., at 11 am.
I am restricted in what I can do for sure but it is great to be home again.

2 Corinthians 12:7 - 10 (KJV) 7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
I am this verse walking once again.

Love and blessings upon all of you.
God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

Hi ya all.

Thank you all for the many prayers, cards etc.

I will be offline for about a week and there will be no updates until after I get home.
I wish I was going on vacation to a wonderful place by the ocean or bay but I am going to be in Westmorland Hospital in Greensburg Pa.
My doctor Mark Suzuki MD is the head surgeon at Westmorland in the cardiac unit, so I will have the best working on me. Remember to pray for the entire operating team as well as for me.

NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER!!!

I am at peace in my spirit.
God's got my back as well as my front :-)!

Psalms 23:1 - 24:1 (KJV) 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. 1 The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Operation - UPDATE

On July 31, 2008 (THIS THURSDAY) at about 11 AM a Dr. Suzuki will do my heart by-pass operation. Please pray for this whole operation, the doctor, the assistants, the nurses etc. I have asked God to not let anyone touch my body that should not touch it in all these operations.
Unless the Lord heals me some other way I will then have to wait 6 weeks in order to have the cancer removed from my body along with several other procedures.

And yet another unfolding drama in my ongoing health saga

7-25-08
I had a heart catherization done as an ordered preop for an operation to remove the cancer from my body. Well, well yet another surprise for me. I found out that I will need a 5 by-pass surgery before I can get the other operation. I have 5 arteries that are 50 to 95 percent blocked. The main artery leading in to my heart is blocked 95% and another on the right side is also blocked 95%. Three others are at 75%, 60%, and 50%. I did not have a silent heart attack as was supposed before the catherization. That will delay the cancer surgery for a little over 6 weeks. This is a good thing as the heart will be fixed before a heart attack does happen. So you see all things do work together for the good to them that love God and are the called according to His purpose.(Rom. 8:28)
The scripture in Isaiah 54:17 still applies to this as well as the cancer, Gallbladder, bag and any other formed weapon against me.
I don't know all the details of how God will accomplish this but I have the assurance that when He sends His Word to someone He will do it. So I trust Him.
I still have no anxiety about any of the things going on in my body which is fearfully and wonderfully made by the Lord and I still have His perfect peace.

God Bless and -

Latest on my operation

My operation has been postponed because of the results of a stress test that I took the other day. They seem to think that I have had a silent heart attack at some time and that I need to see a cardiologist before They would put me under for the length of time that I would need to be under for the cancer removal, resectioning, removing my galbladder and placing an illiostomy bag on me as a tempory solution for waste removal until the intestine healed after surgery.

So it is just one more thing to pray about relying on the Word of God that was given to me that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER.. Isaiah 54:17

From Woody Barnette---Father, in Jesus' Name, wake me up...

"If I send pestilence among My people, and My people...humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then...." (2 Chronicles 7:13b-14a)

Notice the location of the commas in our translation-- "humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn...." Usually when this text is read or quoted it is sounds as though there are four processes here. Not so. Only the humble will pray, and only the Face-seekers will "turn from their wicked ways." Trust me. We are going to need this kind of Believer in Jesus Christ more than ever in human history!

Islam is growing at an alarming rate in Europe. It is also growing in the US. Western man worships freedom, not the freedom which is in Jesus Christ, but the freedom which allows anyone to do anything. It will be the destruction of Western Civilization. The Arab/Islamic religion of the moon god, Allah, is a slaughterhouse religion. I posted a film on our Blog site which very graphically reveals the intent of this "peaceful religion." There is no "new testament" in the Koran. The murder of the Jew and other infidels is still advocated in mosques all over the world, perhaps surprisingly to some, including Western Europe and America. This religion came from the Arab world, just as the first state sponsored genocide of the Jews in 2500 years came from the Germany of my life time. We had to level Berlin to stop the madness. What will mankind have to do to rid itself of this madness?!? For the "bleeding hearts," remember, it was the Arab world which started Crusades, not Europe.

Jesus will return, when, no one knows. I believe the prophetic signs show that it is imminent. But if He tarries, our children, for sure our grandchildren, could very well be enslaved under the murderous religion of Islam. While Western man murders his babies and no longer has the will to fight for his freedom, Muslims are patient, their birth rate just keeps growing, and their children are being trained from infancy to "kill the infidel."

Now, the United States of America has the most left wing candidate in its history, a man friendly to this anti-West culture; and starry-eyed youth, trendy liberals, and life long Democrats who have no thought processes of their own, will be voting for him. If this will not get you and me to "humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways," I wonder what will? And to the Brethren in other nations, remember, as the US goes, so goes the world.

Father, in Jesus' Name, wake me up. Amen.

Blessings on Ya!

Latest Update for my Operation for Cancer Removal

I will be having surgery on Friday 7-18-08 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. (keep this in prayer if you would)
Dr. Wolfgang Schrout will be doing the operation. He is a teaching surgeon that only does operations that have to do with the colon, rectum etc. and he teaches other up and coming doctors how it is done. He has been highly recomended for this operation. I will have a tempory illostomy bag while the main rectum reattachment heals and then the bag will be removed. I praise God through it all He has been so good to me. I know I am preaching to the choir here but ...
Also keep me in prayer as I am to have a stress test on Tuesday of next week. Thank you all!

Update for my treatment of Cancer.

On Friday July 11,2008 my wife and I will be down in the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh to see a surgeon named Wolfgang Schrout. He will evaluate the whole situation dealing with the tumor and the location. This will let me know for sure what he or other doctors will be able to do as far as the removal of the tumor and resectioning of the rectum tissue. We have to leave from where I live at about 5:30 am our time to miss all the early morning rush hour traffic going into the city for their work-a-day activities.
I will keep you updated as I find out more info. I do know this, when the tumor is removed I will be cancer free. I give all the Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for this. His grace is and has been quite sufficient for me. In my weakness and inabilities His strength and abilities have been shown. I exalt His name!

Update on Pastor Kitner and the Cancer Treatment

7-03-08

I saw my Medical Oncologist today and my bloodwork numbers are excellent in all areas. I spoke with the doctor concerning the surgeon that I will see. His name is Wolfgang Schrout. He is a teaching specialist in the field on colorectal cancer. My appointment will be set up for one day in the week of 7-07-08 ->. We will see then the course of action that the doctor will suggest that we go concerning the operation that they are looking toward concerning the mass in my rectum and it's removal.

By the way my Oncologist, Dr. Lee told me that I will cancer free upon the removal of the mass from my body. There is no cancer anywhere else in my body.. I praise the Lord Jesus Christ for this. Amen

I will keep you posted on the course of action to be taken,

Isaiah 54:17 - 55:1 (KJV) 17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. 1Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

the above is scripture that I was given the day before my colonoscopy. The person who gave it to me is a prophetess of God and shared that God had urged her to emphasise that no weapon that is "formed" against me. The cancerous mass in my rectum has been formed against me and God had showed me a day ahead of time that it would not prosper...so I still have the peace of God in all of what is going on so far.
I have to go to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for further tests to see how to handle the mass in my body.
Just keep it all before God in prayer and I ask God to bless you richly. I want it to be supernaturally healed and done in such a way that they do not find a mass at all when I go to the Presby Hospital.

God bless!

Don't Quit!

Powerful Quotes to Consider!
1. The definition of diligence is doing a little thing a long time until something big happens.
2. You will never win if you keep quitting!
3. When you are preparing you are out of step with today but in step with what is happening tomorrow.
4. The church waits on the world to create a problem & then responds to it–we need to do church in a way that puts the world on its heels!
5. Having to be inspired to do what is right is the lowest form of maturity!
6. There are people who don’t mind if you fail…but it really bothers them if you succeed.
7. Gossip is a symptom of an unfulfilled, boring life. The only way you can focus on my life is because there is nothing happening in yours!
8. I want you to be so focused on your future that you don’t have time to talk about other people’s past!

Fuel Price Answers! Click Here

Newt Gingrich offers common sense solution to energy crisis. Watch his video.

Dear Rev. Charles,

Our efforts to get Congress to act on the energy crisis are having an impact. AFA supporters have sent Congress 651,279 e-mails calling for action. Becoming energy self-sufficient is now a topic being discussed by the presidential candidates, a growing number of members of Congress and the media.

Watch this video in which former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich addresses the problem, then take action!

We have abundant energy reserves, but efforts to provide for our needs end up in court because of radical environmentalists! Our families need relief!

Our goal: 1,000,000 e-mails to Congress

Tell Congress you want action! CIBC World Markets, an independent investment company, forecasted that gas prices will soon hit $7 a gallon. Families are hurting.

Take Action!
Send your e-mail encouraging Congress to act on this problem. It affects every family in the U.S.

If you have not already done so, send an e-mail to your two U.S. senators and representative. Tell them to authorize the exploration of our known energy reserves.
Important! Show this to friends and family and urge them to send an e-mail. NOW!

Update on the treatment of the cancer in my body.

Hello all,
I am done with the radiation and chemo treatment part of the cancer treatment and removal. I have an appointment with the Medical Oncologist on July 3rd. I will see a surgeon after that doctor visit as soon as I can and make arrangements for the removal of what is left of what was the cancer mass. That will irradicate any cancer from my body altogether. I anticipate that this will be done sometime in July.

I will post any other information that I get after this to keep you informed as to what is happening with the battle that I have been involved with in the radiation/chemo program.

I did not have some of the radical things happen to me with the radiation and chemo that I heard might or could happen. That is purely the grace of God on my behalf.

God gave me Isaiah 54:17 the day before I was diagnosed with cancer and I knew that He had everything in control concerning me and He still does.

The scripture that the Lord gave me the day before I was to find out I have this cancerous mass in my rectum is as follows:

Isaiah 54:16 - 55:1 (NIV) 16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc; 17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.

From Woody Barnette---"While Men Slept"

"....But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed...." (Matthew 13:25)

The advertisement reads:

Show Your Pittsburgh Pride!!!

"Pride 2008 will be a week long celebration for and about GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi (gender) and Transgender) Pittsburgh. We will be celebrating in our city, starting June 16th and ending with PrideFest on Sunday, June 22. On Sunday June 22nd from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM The GLCC (Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh) will have a booth right in the heart of the PrideFest location on Liberty Avenue. You will be able to stop by and see what we have planned for the future of GLBT Pittsburgh." (!!)

"While men slept" the enemy sowed and "planned!" An interesting thing has happened over the years in Pittsburgh. There is no longer a "March for Jesus" day because many of the city's pastors stopped supporting it, asserting, "that season was over." Meanwhile, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" This coming week (notice, not "day"), the homosexuals will be marching with great pride through the city streets. While the religious community is having in-house revivals, outside its house will be the "outhouse" culture, growing, expanding, taking over. While the religious culture is dancing and shouting in its church buildings, the demonic culture is dancing and shouting in our streets.

Some times I feel as though I am a "while-men-slept" Believer." I have been very active in His Church and Kingdom over my 44+ years of "full time" service, and yet at times you feel as though, well, you know the feeling. Then you read the above headline and ask, "How can I slow down/sleep in the face of this?" It is simply a rhetorical question. I cannot. You cannot. The Church cannot. I guess Malone is still asking challenging us, "What are you prepared to do?"

Father, in Jesus' Name, too often I have been asleep while the enemy has been sowing and planning. Holy Spirit, keep me awake! Amen.

We need to understand our priorities.

Colossians 3:1 - 4 (NIV) 1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your£ life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

I have heard it said that a person was so heavenly minded that he was no earthly good. Well That statement is one that the devil got Christians to buy into. We need to know and understand our priorities. Our priorities are not earthly but heavenly. And we are told to set our minds (our affections)on things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. That is where the source of all of our life comes from. We are not to get our mind set on the things of this earth. Our time on this earth is the shortest time period of our eternity. The choices on this earth must be made from our heavenly understanding.

Blessings on ya!

Update on Pastor Kitner and the Cancer Treatment

An update on me as I progress through this cancer treatment. I am into the third week of radiation/chemo treatment. I am feeling pretty good even though I get tired fast and have no stammina to speak of.

I have seen a surgeon and he has said that the operation will end in a permanent colostomy with a bag for me because there just isn't enough good tissue to reconnect the sections of the lower bowel without going into the area where the cancer cells were before the radiation/chemo treatment. He has said that if he would do the reconnect with that tissue that the reoccurance rate is really high. He indicated that the cancer could return within one year after surgery. The radiologist said that the reconnecting the bowel in this situation would not even gurantee me to have control over the functions of my body.

Now I have several oppinions from the human doctors but there is one doctor that I am consulting even as you read this. His name is Doctor Jesus the Great Physician. He will have the final word on what will happen in my case. He has info that only He knows and He has abilities that other Physicians don't have.

I will see the Oncologist that is taking care of the Chemo treatment process on Thursday (5-22-08) of this week. He will give me some more input from the blood work I am sure and explain some other things to me. I also will ask him some questions as well.

Have you ever wanted to quit?

When you go through the fire and the flood what are your reactions to these trials of life?

Have you ever wanted to quit?

There's a tendency in everyone to want to quit on something in life. Couples give up on marriages. Parents quit on their children. Students give up on the academic dreams. CEOs quit on their company's. And unfortunately, pastors often give up on their churches, especially on Monday morning.

James 1:4 says, "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
Let me encourage you today to not throw in the towel. Don't give up. I'm reminded of the great spiritual song, "This too shall pass." Sure, it may be tough going for a while, but God can use it to help you become spiritually mature. Going through helps me grow up.

5 Reasons not to quit:
1. Adversity makes me stronger.
2. Simply outlasting my critics is a secret to success.
3. Staying power builds leadership credibility.
4. Quitters live with too many regrets.
5. The greatest breakthroughs come after the greatest test of our character.

In our fast paced hi-tech society people sometimes run past the real things of life without slowing down to smell the roses, so to speak.
I have found that since I have been diagnosed with cancer that I look at things a little differently. I don't get in a hurry so much and I have stopped to think about the real aspects of life more than I took time for before, because of the pace we set for those seemingly important things. Well just what is important? Think about it.

PREACH THE WORD!

PREACH THE WORD! These are some of the last words Paul wrote to his young protégé Timothy; his son in the faith, to whom he had entrusted that significant and magnificent church at Ephesus. The reason Paul gave Timothy this charge was because of the power of the Word, “all Scripture is inspired and is profitable.” Another reason to “preach the Word” is that the End Times will feature teachers who will say what “itching ears want to hear”; they will turn the ears of the people from truth to myth.

Update on the treatment of the cancer in my body.

I have received medication for chemo and the radiologist office called me today to set up a time for the treatments to start. Monday I go in for films and then we will set up the times of treatment for the 5 day a week schedule for 28 treatments of both radiation and chemo pills. My understanding is that after the treatment is over there will be a 2 week resting period for my body to recover and then they will do surgery. That would put the surgery toward the first part of July. That is their plan so far. If it changes I will surely place an update here on my blog for all to read.
I have an appointment with a surgeon on Friday May 9 at 10:30 am. His name is Dr. Armanious. Please pray for all my doctors.

More on my cancer treatment. Updated again -- Pastor Kitner

Things are moving right along now toward getting rid of the cancer that has invaded my body. Rectal cancer is no fun physically even in the everyday things of life, such as sitting standing, walking around or sleeping.

I have been scanned tatooed or marked for radiation treatment and set up for chemo or pills to work at the same time that the radiation is being done. I had 2 units of blood to bring my red cell count up because I have been bleeding internally for a while. I am scheduled for a PetScan on Wednesday morning at 7:15 AM, where they introduce a radioactive substance into my system and then do a CT Scann again to light me up so they can see if there is any other areas in my body where cancer would be present. After that the chemoradiation treatment begins for approximately 5 days a week for 6 weeks. After the double treatment to shrink the tumor is done then they will remove it and do a resection of the rectum tissue. This is all happening at the Arnold Palmer Cancer center at Mountain View near Greensburg, Pa.

Pray for my doctors. Dr Bahri, Dr Jin Lee and Dr. Armanious.

Also pray that no person touch my body that shouldn't. I don't want just anyone working on me.

Hollow On the Inside -- click here

Hollow On the Inside

There is this unforgettable drive above the Hudson River; in fact, the highway just kind of hangs out on Storm King Mountain. It's a few miles north of New York City and as you look down on the Hudson you get this incredible view. Now every time I've been able to catch a glance down there at this view of the Hudson, I have been fascinated with this castle. It sits right in the middle of the river on an island. It's kind of like a Robin Hood type of castle, if you can imagine that. Well, not too long ago my wife and I got to take a cruise along the Hudson River and I could take an extended look at that castle. We went right past it, and our tour guide said, "That's Bannerman Castle." Mr. Bannerman, apparently, was an arms dealer for many, many years, and over many decades there are a lot of very interesting stories about people coming and going for weapons all through the wars and all kinds of things. Then in the 1960s there was a large explosion there on the island. What about the castle? Well, I was surprised to learn the truth about that castle.

I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to have A Word With You today about "Hollow on the Inside."

Our word for today from the Word of God comes from Matthew chapter 23, beginning at verse 25. But first, I have to tell you that Bannerman Castle according to the tour guide, though it's very impressive on the outside, is hollow now on the inside. Listen to what Jesus says about human Bannerman Castles. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish but inside they are full of greed and self indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First, clean the inside of the cup and dish, then the outside also will be clean. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness."

Look at this. Jesus says there are people that look great on the outside, religious on the outside, but they have big problems on the inside. This could be you. I mean it could be true of a marriage, it could be true of a church, an organization, a leader, you and me. You know we live in a world where image and appearance are everything. You know we work on our fitness, and our hair, and our wardrobe, making good comments, making good impressions, looking like we have it all together, but then maybe there's another you. When you're alone, when you're thinking honestly, you can feel that emptiness inside…that hollowness. You can't explain it - you can't deny it! And beneath the image you know the darkness, you know the sin. You know the struggle that's in there. Like one young woman said, "There's a darkness inside me that scares me." Eventually it's going to collapse.

Mickey Mantle said not long before his death, "I filled my emptiness with alcohol." Listen to what Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness." Jesus is saying, "Invite me into that inner darkness; invite me into that emptiness. I can fill it." He said later in this chapter in Matthew 23, "How often I have longed to gather your children together, but you were not willing."

Jesus says he's been knocking on the door of your life. Why don't you give the emptiness and the darkness to the One who already knows all about you, who sees past the image, who can forgive that sin, who can clean that darkness, who can let you go free from it? Let it bring you not to depression, but to the cross of Jesus where he died knowing the sin inside of you and wanting to forgive you and set you free. You need to clean it up, not cover it up. Say, Lord, I need a Savior, no more trusting in me. It's all in your hands now.

If this is what you want, if you're ready to fill that hole on the inside with the One who gave you your life and gave His life for you, I'd invite you to come to our website because it's helped a lot of people cross over into Jesus' arms. You can go to yoursforlife.net.

Jesus builds people from the inside out. So, open the door of that empty castle and let Jesus in. He will make you strong inside and you can finally be done with that hollow spot in your heart.
