The Future of the Church

People are always questioning the relativity of the church to this time in our world. How does the church fit in?

Ralph Winter said: “Unless and until the future of the world becomes more important to the Church than it’s own future....the Church has no future in the world.”

What do you think about that statement? How does it fit in with what you believe?

  1. This is a very powerful quote. I agree with it in this respect. So often, a church is focused on the external: the decor, music, beauty of the building, and all the many, many programs to entice people to come to their place of worship. They are looking inward. Instead, as the body of Christ, we need to be focused outward on the world, winning souls, teaching and leading into growth which will become ministry in the hearts and lives of those we've led to Christ. Our ministry should not be for self praise, but service to those who do not know the Lord, that "they may see our good works and glorify our Father who is in Heaven."

  2. In other words a service church and not a serve us church.
